That's what it takes: self care. In fact, it takes GOOD self care at times, even BETTER self care. Self Care

I haven't had a real flare of my pain for a few months I think...anyway long enough that I know it hasn't been recent.Self Care

But, as many of you know, my desktop cpu died and I had to mess with it to see if the cables were tight, and then pull it... and that, with a sacrum (low back) that is nearly always out of place some, really put my back out and onto one of the sciatic nerves. (This is excruciating pain. It doesn't kill you, it just feels like it will.) Self Care

I think I could have "gotten away with" the cables and all...but moving that cpu was a no-no, at least in the thoughtless way I did it. I know it isn't heavy, really...I think? Self Care I need to weigh it LOL... but I didn't even think of my self when I moved it, until it was too late and the thought was, "This is too heavy for me."

So I have suffered all week so far (since Sat night/Sun am) because I did not remember to do GOOD self care. Self Care One would think that after nearly 21 years, I would have this down to a science. I thought I did. Self Care

I am at least now able to sit at times, and lie down at times without the unbearable pain... with manageable pain.

My experience can be a reminder to everyone, I hope. Even when you become caught up in the event, such as holiday and family etc, you simply MUST be the one who remembers your own good self care limits, and not be afraid to put your foot down for your own health.
Take care everyone!

Self Care Sky..

thanks for posting this... i just discovered this forum... mom's the one in chronic pain... wish she'd take a healthier approach so i may be watching this forum more often for ideas to help her...

i can relate to the improper bending procedure... my thought is, if there's already damage, even a slight misalignment would be excruciating... my own back has had to heal abit because of lessons yet unlearned... can get pretty bad at times.. so Thanks! for this basic and helpful reminder!

Dear Sky,

I oh so know how you are feeling. Thanks for posting. It is a good reminder how Good Self Care is so important for us to remember. I experienced similar issues when lifing groceries out of my car. UGH

Here is to hoping that you have a speedy recovery (if there is such a thing). I have facet joint disease in my lumbar and have to practice Good Self Care. I feel for you and will hold you in my thoughts and prayers. I know what it is like to have chronic pain. And oh, I don't wish it upon anyone.

God Bless and Take Care,
Peacemaker
