I have fibro and tonight I am hurting so very bad. Some days i just want to sit and cry cause there is not anything that helps.

My family thinks I am faking. They say that I am only 55 and that lots of doctors don't even believe this is real. IT doesn't matter if I show them material or even if the doctor talks to them.

it is hard having teenagers and also fibro. I feel quilty that I can not do so many things. They don't understnad and so they are mean to me.

I'd sweetly point out to your teens, especially daughters, that it has a hereditary aspect and they might want to learn as much as they can about it before they get it? :-)

There is a wonderful self help resource at CFIDS & Fibromyaliga Self-Help. I've taken the online course and participate in discussion groups. Very well organized and so supportive. You can also find lots of resources at the site.

I'm younger than you and I have fibromyalgia. Some children even have it. And just because some doctors have whatever opinions doesn't mean that you aren't experiencing what you are experiencing.

A good summary at: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20070715/247.html

I also find lots of help through my public library, look for books on fibromyalgia, wide array to choose from. Some even talk over how to deal with difficult family members. Also check on chronic pain books that include info on fibromyalgia.

No one should be mean to you. fibromyalgia Do you have a good therapist? That might be good support in learning how to deal with people treating you badly. You don't deserve cruelty.

I hope I don't sound too harsh here fibromyalgia I just really feel for you and feel protective of anyone going through chronic pain.

Fibro can be a pain.. I know all too well the lower back pains, aches and migrans and oteher symptoms..

My doc put me on Lyrica 150mg twice a day.. it has helped me to be able to sit up, and talk online, and do a little house work..
Doctors do not belive in cronic pain syndromes and I do not think any of them will in our life time

There are assistant programs out there contact the maker of this med and maybe they can help you find on in your area, or sometimes, doctors can help if asked

That's horrible that nobody is trying to be there for you. I have Fibromyalgia and a 3 yr old. A lot of days i have to stay in bed and i feel terrible because i want to go play with her. Fibromyalgia is very real. here is a site with the symptoms.

I'm a lot younger than 55 and I get the same kind of attitude from people. I've since learned who I can I share this info with and who I can't. My children get upset with me for being unable to do things I used to do, and I gently remind them that it's due to my fibromyalgia...that I am doing the best I can under the circumstances... I often feel sad for the part of me that is lost.

Take gentle care, surround yourself with people who are supportive. Being around unsupportive people exacerbates symptoms.

my wife is 33 and has it....i sometimes feel i dont support her enough because "she looks normal".....

we too have realized that this is not something to share with everyone and it shouldnt have to be that way

my wife recently was prescribed Deplin and has stated it has made her less depressed and somewhat more energetic.....

I'm on anti-depressant and it does nothing to lessen the physical pain. Nor does it make me feel any less sad for the parts of life I can no longer enjoy. Oh well.

I completely understand. I find it embarrassing, at times, to say "I don't feel well" because it is to often that I don't. Teenagers do get older and one day they will see beyond their selves, ha---like in their 30's! I don't have the diagnosis, but have suspected that this isn't just arthritis. I can't make the pain disappear, but getting out or finding a focus seems to get me through. Other days, well...I find a blog like this!
Hang in there. I don't think you can lean on the kids for emotional support; they genuinely can't respond to your needs, but that's just my opinion and frame of reference.
