Do you ever get like an administrator message saying your post has been removed and then you look at it again and it's not removed?I've had this happen a couple of times not to many but it's annoying when it happens have any of you experienced this?

do you mean an actual message from the site itself (like a "board message", or do you mean a message from 1 of the administrators/moderators?

I've had it in reverse (actually it was me who started the conversation), because I wrote mentioning a post in depression wasn't their anymore, and I got a response.. oh my mistake, I shouldn't have removed it.

on a related note, what annoys me is when a thread gets moved from it's forum, but in the forum it's still their

example:

a few weeks ago, I came across a wholel oad of threads in other mental health, which wern't meant to be their

they'd been moved to the relevant forums, but you could still access them via other mental health (the only diffrence was it stated above the thread had been moved)

I'm not sure why this happens.. if a thread gets moved to it's right forum, it should be non accessible from the other section

The "Moved" note that you see after a thread has been moved to a different forum is called a redirect marker. For instance:

Administration message

We're not trying to hide the thread, just move it to a different forum, so we leave the marker to tell you where it went. The marker stays up for a few days, then disappears automatically. Meanwhile, if you click on the link you get taken to the thread.

I appreciate the "moved" link. It would be frustrating to go to where I'd seen a post only for it to have vanished.
Thanks for this!

I find administration messages a hoot sometimes! Many make no sense whatsoever to this lay person! But then again, I'd hate to be an administrator here. Way too much work!

*Tips hat to admins*

Not at the moment IchbinkeinTeufel, but you'd be the first I'd ask. It is more the different categories of threads that confuse me tbh, there are so many. Hats off to you guys for working on keeping them straight.

One thing that would help me is how do I tell which category I'm in while I'm within a thread? Once I was replying inside a thread under a category that I was unaware of....(I posted a definition in a thread once that clearly needed no definition if I had realized under which category I was posting. ) The folks there asked me "You know you are in XYZ thread, right?" I did not and was very embarrassed. But all were very kind to forgive me my mistake.

Thanks for asking, though!

No problem. Towards the top of most, if not all of the board's pages, you'll see a line of text indicating the tree structure of the pages you're browsing through. For example, within this thread, I see:

Administration message Forums at Psych Central > General > Community Feedback & Technical Support

Then below that, I see the thread title, indicating which thread I'm currently in. The last entry (to the right) within the line of text shown above, is what indicates which forum you're in.

This, however, changes when, for example, you're using the more advanced posting page; for all those smilies, the formatting options, thread icons, etc. By advanced posting, I just mean not the "quick reply" feature which allows you to post on the same page as the thread. I hope I made that understandable.

So, to break it down:

"Forums at Psych Central" means the board itself, wherein all the forums, threads, and posts reside. Within that, there's "General", which indicates the category of forums. Sort of like a folder within a folder on your computer. Within that category of forums, you'll find the "Community Feedback & Technical Support" forum, which is the forum we're in when we view this thread.

Hope I didn't make that a nightmare to understand! Really tired and have had a headache all day, so I may not be on top form. xD

By the way, "It is more the different categories of threads that confuse me tbh, there are so many." - I can appreciate the confusion. There are a lot, I agree. It does keep things separate though; things would be quite a mess if everything were lumped into just a few forums, especially with so many delicate topics.

You did a great job explaining, even with your headache! (Sorry for the headache.) I understood completely. I certainly understand the need for the organization of threads here also. Knowing where I am will help me make appropriate responses and posts!

Thanks so much!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
