Hi, I have problem. One of symptoms of depression: sometime, it last usually few days a month I am emotionally flattened. I used vocabulary, so I hoped, that you understand that word. Simply, I donīt feel anything. I am not attached to my hobbies, I read book and I donīt feel anything to characters, to plot, nothing. I feel like zombie. Like robot. I canīt read my favourite stories, because I donīt feel emotions of characters. Itīs horrible. I hate it. Itīs nightmare.
Do you have similar problem? What do you do with it?

I usually talk to my doc about it. I hate it, too. It is difficult to feel blah and have no feelings and not be able to make it go away. Maybe you want to talk to your therapist about it, also. I don't have any solutions, but I know how you feel.

Hi Josephine. I spent enough years living with depression that I developed a persona that allowed me function around people with it. I learned how to pretend to care. If you let your apathy show no one wants you around. They're attitude is: "We all have problems; just get over it". But if you keep that up long enough you can't tell when you're feeling something and when you're pretending to feel something.

So I guess my advice is don't do what I did. Your emotions are in there. Find a way to be with them. Feeling anything is better than feeling nothing. Mindfulness and loving-kindness meditations and readings on self-compassion have helped me.

Hi Josephine ~ Yes, I know what you're talking about. I think many of us do. We feel nothing --- we aren't happy, but we're not sad. There's just nothing.

Have you been in therapy? If not, I think it's time to see a therapist. You have somehow buried your emotions for some reason. Talk to your medical doctor and have him refer you to a good therapist -- he will know the best one to send you to. You won't regret going to therapy. I've been in therapy off and on for many years, and it has helped me IMMENSELY!!

Please look into therapy. I promise, you won't regret it. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee

Taking any Meds. Medications can dull your feelings.
