Does anyone else use journaling as a coping skill? I find it helps me a lot specifically with anxiety and depression episodes. Usually when I journal I write about my day etc and whatever's on my mind. For example, when I'm anxious I'm generally worried about every single thing in the world where it gets so overwhelming and I have to have a place to write it down to keep the worries from running through my mind. I feel like writing what's on my mind down gives me some closure and I can let whatever's bothering me go, including when I'm depressed.

I journalled until i was 40 and i don't even know why i stopped, i guess it was because i felt a little better and didn't need to anymore but i am thinking of starting it up again. My sister is waiting for me to write a book, she said it would be interesting, i don't know why, but i really don't want to tell all my personal secrets to everyone i know or not.

Yes, i do
![]() During my teenage years, it helped me to cope with my confusing and destructive world, and now as a woman in her early 30s it helps as i re-examine those teenage years as well as early childhood times. When i feel like i need it, i go to my journal and write and write until its all out of my head and i am feeling better. I have always said that if we had a house fire, my journal would be the 2nd thing (after family photos) that i would try to get.

I've been journaling for many years but not everyday. I can go a month or so without writing even though I need to. Then I will write everyday for a while. Not sure why I do that. It definitely helps get stuff out of my head, my problem lately is I'm too lazy or too depressed to write. I sit there and want to write and I think of all the things I want to write about but I just don't. Hopefully this is just a phase that will pass, got too much in my head.
