Saw a T for some time until someone else felt they needed to take from my life, take, take, take (their life wasn't going so well so they took what I had). The T never gave me any coping skills. People took my life away and just left me hanging....seems I have a lot of nasty people in my life. Some T he turned out to be.

You seem to be having a difficult time.
I have no idea what your post means, by the way.

(((( Hugs ))))

Maybe try a different T?

I am wondering, therapy takes work on your side too. Have you evaluated your expectations and whether they are realistic. Are you prepared to step up to the challenge. Don't expect your therapist or others will solve your problems. How do you measure the success of your therapy? What kind of goals do you have? Are they realistic? Are they achievable? What about communication/relationship with your therapist. Are you doing what you can do to make such a relationship workable. As for coping skills, you need to learn them and practise them. They are not a magical be all to end all.

How does one learn coping skills if one's therapist does not teach or recommend a book? It is the therapist's responsibility to educate and help imo.

The range of skill and effectual performance of therapists seems to vary widely.

Good luck Raging. Hope you find those skills. Someone here may have a link to assist you.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "something was taken" from you, was personal property stolen or did someone cause you to feel unsafe or harm you physically?

I often feel taken advantage of because I try to be generous to friends and family but often when I need help no one is there for me. If this is what you mean, I understand completely.

If you think your therapist is not giving you the skills you need talk to him/her about it, start looking for a new therapist or maybe a local support group. I wish you well and hope you are able to overcome the challenges you are facing.
