Loneliness is a hell of an emotion. I will tell you that. I'm not sure if I am depressed, lonely, or both. I suspect both. I'm starting to think things like, "I want to join a community choir," even though I'm shy. And I want to take an improv class, even though again, I am so shy about stuff like that and too scared to even try.
But yeah, I felt very lonely and isolated today even though my family (mom and dad) was around. I still feel this way, but it helps to talk about it. Tomorrow, I'm going to my meditation group, and to church, even though i don't feel like it. This is why I think I'm depressed. Because I don't feel like doing the stuff I know could help. But i will try. I know it's harder for people like me, to get out, because of depression. But I won't give up. Perhaps I can talk to my psych nurse about medication change. |

Long story short, joining a group activity you enjoy helps fight loneliness more than you can imagine! Stay strong and keep at it! |

Well... kudos on your determination to keep trying, starrysky! The Skeezyks is pretty-much thoroughly solitary at this point. But every so often I feel this desire to get out & do something wash over me. In my case, I just hunker down & wait for it to pass... which it does. However, in my case, I'm old. So it's okay. I'm glad you're still making the effort to get out there.

The best antidote to loneliness is interest! Try to find a hoby or job that you really enjoy doing. When I fill lonely, I usually find something to do. It can be completly useless piece of work or art; something you don't need any advice or learning to do. Boredom is the most frequent cause of loneliness. Anything that brakes the monotony contains mental energy. |
