I'm going to play an open mic tonight. This is probably my 20th(or around that number) playing one, but the problem is I feel like I'm always having alot of anxiety and constant stage fright. How do you get over that?

Have you tried exercising at home? Maybe in front of the mirror? I think also finding some distractions before the "event" can be helpful. What about a therapist? Could that be helpful?

I have a great deal of catstrophic thinking - I suffer a lot in public. Things have gotten easier though. CBT work taught me a great deal and provided many coping skills. Although it's now been a year since the therapy I still do the homework when I can. I especially work on de-catastrophizing my defeatest thinking. There are numerous worksheets for this on the web.

Just keep playing in front of the open microphone. Practice is what will help. You need more than 20 times.

I forgot to point out that no one remembers perfection and that mistakes are often recalled most fondly.
