I’ve become aware I do this quite a bit, I often think about the past, happy times, when my son was little, when we were first married. I feel almost like I’m in the moment, like there’s two different dimensions at once, but of course I’m not. They’re happy memories but ultimately it makes me feel sad. Lots of things have changed and I can’t get those times back. I know that I need to focus on where I am now and I do try but the past keeps pulling me back.

Just yesterday, I was remembering how sweet my son was when he was little; so we have that in common. Sorry you are feeling sad today.

It is the start of the school year this week and I have been focusing on the jobs I have lined up for this month (subbing) and found my first day of subbing (Wednesday) to be a wonderful time. I pray that you have an uplifting experience during your day today.

That’s good news you’ve got a subbing job and hope you have a good first shift back @TunedOut it’s nice to catch up with you and thanks for thinking of me. Thanks everyone for the hugs.

I had a nice afternoon with two friends and hearing about their news helped me focus on things other than my own thoughts.

It feels like on some level we keep our children in our hearts as the children they were.

Only to tell you that I don’t have children but I think that I can understand your nostalgia. I think I would felt the same if I had have kids and they were now living their adult lives.
Any expectations to have grandkids soon?

I don’t think grandchildren are going to happen anytime soon, but that’s okay.

Sometimes I wish I could go back and do some things differently, then I feel sad. Then I try to think logically that it’s not possible. So all we could do is move forward. Not backwards

Oh I agree that our children are in our hearts as they were little. I often see my daughter as a toddler but she sure isn’t

Yes I often feel like I would do things differently, I wish I’d engaged in the joy of early parenting instead of fretting so much - oh the irony! As I age I feel the preciousness of all my relationships so much more than I ever did.

I reminisce often and yearn for the good times but I I know there's no going back. I have always found comfort in the quote, "Don't be sad that it's over. Smile because it happened."
Thanks for this!
