I belong to a lot of other forums: music forums, audio forums, computer forums. And I get criticized a lot in all of them. Other day someone attacked me in a popular music forum because I said I didn't enjoy a certain musician. And in an audio forum other day couple guys were cold towards me after I asked questions about upgrading my car system and said I couldn't afford much because I'm on disability.
I know that I get carried away with what I say online because I'm fixated on things due to my obsessive nature and agitation.
I got real upset after I was attacked so I usually avoid those sites for a few weeks until I calm down but I always go back to them.
Wanted to know if anyone else belongs to other forums and how you get treated.
(Writing is one of the only things I can do nowadays and like because I have lots of trouble talking face to face with others due to problems relating to myself and people since I became very ill at age 13 and lost feeling around friends/family and became detached from myself. I lost all friends I had by age 18 because I could not hold a conversation.)

They say genius is the ability to combine two previously unconnected things. I say, therefore the opposite of genius is the inability to disconnect two unrelated things. Those are the groups i participate in - grammar and driving rules. That way i know im always right! Dont let the aholes grind you down.
Thanks for this!

I just ignore negative things. I don't care what others think or say about me. I do me, regardless. Just overlook it and you'll feel better. If you can detach yourself emotionally from others, learn to do it here too. These people are just people online, not actually family and friends, so they shouldn't mean that much. I don't care if anyone criticizes, hates, comments negative things, or anything. I don't care how people view me. I don't live for others, I live for me, and you need to start doing the same.

It might help if you look at it as its their problem, not yours.

People have their issues and take what you post personally even if it’s nothing to do with them or you aren’t even talking to them. So they project due to their own issues.

Like somehow you not liking some music or you not having money to buy audio system triggered them and they got bent out of shape and lashed on you. You can emphasize with them but ultimately it’s their responsibility to manage their own triggers, not yours.

Also online you don’t really know who is who. You don’t even know if they are sober when they post that stuff. You have never met them.

As unaluna said don’t let aholes grind you down
Thanks for this!

Oh boy the internet is an awful place, and we're online everyday for hours on end, if we want to or not. I believe that many people wouldn't say these hurtful things if they met us in real life. Something about anonymity. It tells volumes about the kind of person they're tho!

It's one of the reasons why I deleted twitter, people have an especially aggressive mentality there imo.

I get treated on all forums just like you. Once I asked for help on a music form trying to learn some basic music theory and I got called lazy. lazy for trying to learn? Haha. Or on here I recently got a dismissive comment. It happens all the time sadly.

Hold on there bro!
