All I have to do today is go to the store to do my groceries and I cannot even bring myself to look outside never mind stepping outside...I am paralyzed by depression and anxiety. I have closed myself off from everyone, dont want to answer the phone, I have nothing to say to anyone, I have no life, I am nothing

If experience can be trusted, this paralysis will pass. Rest. Strength will return; you don't have to know how or when.

((((idontknow13)))) I am the same way, why? What do we have to be affraid of, I don't know? But being stuck is hard. I do get out but I hurry home so I am not out long. One step at a time? Not sure but. Just try your best. What I do to help get out is look at the ground while I am walking so I don't have to see any one. I know you have to look up to see where you are going but then my eyes are back on the ground. It works - I get out of the house but not for long. Hugs for your day.DO NOT DO THIS WHILE DRIVING.
Thanks for this!

Hi idontknow13,
I am sorry you are feeling so low. When I am feeling low and don't want to or cannot do anything, I write in my journal. I know you said that you are tired of all the words, well, getting them all out of your head can help clear out your mind of all the thoughts. This then helps you to move forward, even one step is a move forward. This works for me most of the time. Maybe you can think of something else that will distract your bad tho'ts so you can get to doing those things that need to get done. I hope you find something that works for you. I hope you will eventually feel better and can go outside w/o fear. LIke depressedAlaskan, who walks with her head down, I can relate to that. I also take my walks w/ my head down most of the time, just so I don't see those judgmental faces, but, when I am down there, I look at the flowers and other things of beauty, and they usually can help to brighten my mood. Take care!
Thanks for this!

I've been feeling the same way for a couple of weeks, now; I call it "cocooning." I think it's a way of detaching from pressures and expectations that we place on ourselves (and allow others to place on us, as well) to function at a certain level - it's a type of "sleep." From long experience I have learned that I will "awaken" eventually and things will get done, and I'll actually feel better for the "rest." So, just rest for now and be at peace about it.
