Welcome leejones!

Do you have a therapist to talk through your feelings? It would be good to get to the bottom of it and work out ways of coping with it. Glad you found us, keep sharing.

yes I have a therapist, but the bottom line is that the only one who can change what I am thinking is ME....that much I have learned.....

maybe I need to increase my remeron up a bit....the dr told me to try a slow increase..I am only taking 15 mg ....

For myself, I discovered that the waves weren't really depression but grief. I discovered I had many legitimate things to grieve over in my life and since my coping mechanism was to stuff and bury any and all feelings quickly, I had a lot of grief inside me that eventually needed to come out...... especially when I found a safe person to share it with. It still doesn't come up easily and it's darn-right scary sometimes because I'm afraid it will overwhelm me.

Just what came to my mind as I read your post~

Even though I haven't been clinically diagnosed with depression - I have experienced it due to incredible stress over the last 3 yrs. I answered your post in the relationship forum and have you some self help tips there. I like your decription that it comes in waves because I've felt like I'm swimming in a stormy sea trying to keep my head up.

What kind of depression do you have? i think you need to keep up the therapy and meds. The number one thing YOU can do is exercise every day - force yourself. I bet in 2 months see an improvement. Best of luck.

You are right about exercise....I have not done a lot in the last week or so...maybe that is why I feel so bad now...

Seek professional advice.

Try to see the "half full" part of the glass (your life) instead of the half empty part.

Break your day down into hours and focus on the now: what's the next right thing to do, what can I do to take care of myself this minute, what should I be doing right now, etc.

Remind yourself that you are always doing the best you can, some days our best is really good, other days our best may be simply getting out of bed and getting dressed. Either way, pat yourself on the back and acknowledge that you are doing the best you can any given moment.

Don't go to a stone for water. Some people are stones, some are water. Reach out to the people in your life who are caring and supportive of you. Stop trying to get care, validation or support from people who will never be capable of giving that to you.

Can't stop you from praying and blessing me,
and if that makes you feel better feel free.
But keep it to yourself please, don't tell me.
And let's all respect each other's feelings.
With kindness, support and "sweet dreamings."

You might want to check and ask if this is a medicine effect. Some of them will produce anxiety or mania if they happen not to fit you, and actually, what works for you might change over time, so even if you've been on the same meds for a while, you might want to ask. I really hope that you start feeling better and that you can get a handle on the depression. If you need someone to sound off to, I'm here, even if I can't always get to a computer I can answer from

I have been on 15 mg of remeron since July 20 and it has been working pretty well up until a few days ago when I felt the anxiety increase. It is also helping me sleep so I'd hate to change it at this point.

I very much appreciate your advice.....
Thanks for this!
