I am sitting here utterly depressed and yet today’s plan is to join the local gym. Not work out today. Just join. It is 8am. I haven’t even gotten dressed yet. I am sitting up in bed with my laptop writing this.
I am so unmotivated and low energy it baffles me. I remember for a few years not too long ago when I went to the gym 6 days a week. Plus rode my bike everywhere and played racquetball. Now I lay in bed most of the day, 7 days a week. If I had a higher power, I’d pray—“Please give me the strength to get off my butt and get out the door and just join. That’s it. Just sign the papers and pay the dues.”

You can do it Berries, though it may seem a daunting task to even get out of bed (I go through that every day). You DO have the strength within you and I'm sending what little bit of energy I have your way in the hopes it will help you do something to help yourself. You CAN do it!

there was a study done sometime past which showed that while getting in the habit of exercising was difficult for some, once they had actually gotten out and done it, the activity of exercising actually builds energy, and in time, a period of only a few weeks, a person will begin to feel less resistance and actually begin looking forward to exercise.. however, i think to make that work, one has to maintain a healthy and positive attitude about what they are doing for themselves and continue to aspire to higher and higher goals ... it benefits not only you Berries, think of the many who also are in transition, struggling against gravity and the same old same old.. your positive example encourages them to become involved as well and in time maybe you will buddy up with others like you, or trying to become like you (more healthy that is) and become the motivation and inspiration they've needed to make changes in their own life... everyone benefits!

Joining is a good thing. Now get yourself off the bed and onto the treadmill!

![]() ![]() I used to belong to a gym, but found for me personally it was easier at home - but most people like the motivation that being in a gym offers. The problem with sporadic exercise like I've been doing - is it's like starting all over again( that sucks). At first you will feel like you're dragging your butt to the gym - no doubt you need to just force yourself and go into robot mode LOL. But after about 2 months you WILL start to feel stronger and energized. I highly recommend weight lifting and cardio. The weights will give you the fastest results. I'm famous for advising others to exercise, so I really need to practice what I preach and start again. Since you used to exercise before it will be easier for you, compared to someone who's never exercised before - your muscles have a memory. Even if you don't feel like it - just go into robot mode and like the NIKE ad says "JUST DO IT". Best of luck Berries ![]()
