I've been in treatment for depression for about 1 1/2 years. Over that time I've made incredible progress and am so grateful for and proud of that. But lately I've been having some symptoms showing up, and it's scaring me like hell.
It's partly seasonal, and due to some stress from relationships, school/work, but I'm so scared of feeling like I did at my worst that even seasonal symptoms like this are terrifying me.
I don't really have anyone in my life that has depression, so I just wanted to put myself out here so I can connect to some people who really know what I'm talking about, and so I know I'm not alone with this.

Hi Kate,

Welcome. I think your feelings are completely justified. Of course you are feeling tentative. You don't know what to expect at this time. Remind yourself that situational feelings are just that and cannot harm you.

(((Kate)))) I think on of the most terrifying things about depression is how it can leave you so afraid that every bump in the road is the start of a new episode, and still it manages to sneak up and pounce. At least with me. So, welcome. I think you have met and will meet many who share your feelings and experiences. I noticed you are already getting a lot of good advice, so I'll just wave my little hand and say "hi" ! Huggss!

hi kate, welcome to PC

I'm glad that you've made progress with your depression, that's GREAT to hear!!! When I started feeling better, I also became afraid of the depression coming back, but my counsellor told me that even if it did, I was now equipped to recognize the symptoms before I hit rock bottom, so I could get to work on stabilizing my mood straight away. It is very scary when the depression starts to creep up on you, but it's good that you recognize it for what it is. You know what works now, be it meds or therapy or taking some time off, so be sure to get yourself back into whatever worked for you before. Now at least you know from first-hand experience that this doesn't have to be a permanent thing.
