I posted this in the 'other mental health' forum as well. I just wanted to share with you, there's a good series about emotional health on PBS(public television) on January 4-6 at 9:00 pm called This Emotional Life. It's available through out North America. For those of you who don't get PBS there's also a website I will list here. Please mark it on your calendar and I hope that it will inspire you to grab the little bits of joy, even if you don't think your life is going great at the moment. We need to be realistic and appreciate the small joys of life.

Thanks Lynn for sharing this. I have it marked on my calendar and am looking forward to watching it.

Thanks for the positive reply Pom - I think with your positive attitude, you would be most likely to benefit. This series is good for anyone who wants to learn about coping with life challenges.

Thanks so much, Lynn. That is so thoughtful.
There's always room for positive encouragement. A gentle nudge or two here and there really does help, whether we are consciously aware of it, or not.

I'll take a lookies, most definately.

Thanks, Lynn P.! Great find!

Here's a super brief summary of the three episodes based on the PBS preview:
  1. Human interactions and relationships are essential to well-being.
  2. Negative emotions serve positive survival needs, yet they can get out of control; our younger "rational brain" continually struggles with our primordial "emotional brain," producing much of the pain, joy and interest in life.
  3. Recent research suggests "we often incorrectly predict what will bring us greater happiness"; "meditation, compassion, forgiveness and altruism" tend to foster positive emotions.

Thanks Rohag and good for you - I see you looked at the website - you're ahead of me. PBS usually has wonderfully inspiring shows on this time of year - since it's pledge time LOL. I'm looking forward to it and I'm always willing to learn something new.

I think PBS is a public broadcasting station and I'm sure you will have it with Bell Expressvu ... Do you have a station listing on your remote control when you press menu? If I was in Ontario I would look it up for you .
It would be a different number here.

I don't have satalite or cable - that's a luxury we had to cut out because of the economy. Call Bell and see if they can tell you. I get it on regular TV here on channel 56. I'm sure they can tell you. Thanks for the interest Jay.
