Hi. I don't post often. And, I haven't been here in a while. I am feeling really down right now. I applied for a promotion and did not get it. Just found out today. What upsets me the most is that the supervisor encouraged me and supported me to pursue this position. And, she is the very one that tells me I didn't get it. I really wanted this position with all my heart and soul. When I devote myself to something I believe in, I give it my all.
I feel so crushed. So hurt....so worthless. So sad.....I need to pull myself together so I can return to work tomorrow and be "OK" when they announce the new supervisor at the staff meeting. It is going to be so hard to manage my feelings. I am happy for the person that got the position....but still feel crushed....hurt...sad...OK...that is all I have to say right now. Thanks for listening.

Even though your boss broke the upsetting news to you dosen't mean that she thinks that you are not qualifed or the right person for the position. She was encouraging for you to apply for the promotion so she probably has great faith and belief in your abilities. It is perfectly normal to be disapointed, however you seem to be very passionate about your job and I am sure that this does not go unoticed by your co-workers and your subordinates. The next time that they are considering people for promotions you will probably be at the top of the list. Just stay positive and everything will work out disapointed.......

I know I need to retrain my brain to focus on the positive that came out of this. It is so easy to think negative! Thanks for your feedback!

Oh I feel for you! That is a double whammy of buildup and disappointment to go through.

Is there anything loving and special you can do for yourself tonight? Treat food, fav music, bubble bath?
