I'm depressed. Its hard for me to admit that to myself. I had a boyfriend who was really depressed, and it was hard to deal with him and myself at the same time. I guess it kind of made it worse. But now it's over and i've been incredibly depressed since. I'm only 15, but i've seen a lot of adult issues...alcohol, divorce, the evil step parent, and having to take care of my sisters. Its hard and stressful, and no matter how hard i try i can't be happy. I thought i could fake it till i make it, but i seem to be getting nowhere. I'm on the tennis team, doing good in school, and have a good amount of friends, but it does not help much. Does anyone have any extra tips on feeling better? I already have a therapist, and i'm on medication. (Being depressed also makes me sick to my stomach and have migranes, any tips for that too?) i hope someone can help!!!!!

"Fakin' it 'till y'make it" hasn't worked for me, either.

Here's a possible immediate priority. Talk to your doctor, and also your therapist, about these symptoms. It's hard enough dealing with depression by itself without these pains. They may be side-effects of your meds, or they may be unrelated to the meds or even to the depression; it's important to find out.

Please keep posting -- it can take some time for the right ideas for you to surface.

I don't know whose idea "fake it till you make it" was, but I never liked that advice. I much prefer the concept of being real.

Depression is not a character flaw; it's an illness. Therefore, there should be no shame in admitting to it (although too often there is.) I'm glad you already have a therapist and medication. That is precisely what an illness needs; proper treatment. I would no more consider "faking" my way through my depression, than I would consider "faking" my way through my diabetes. Both of those are medical conditions and need medical management, not to be brushed aside.

Take care of yourself. In fact, put yourself first. You wouldn't be of any use to someone else, whether they're depressed or not, unless you've got your own emotional fuel tank full.

And welcome to PC.

Hi and welcome to PC =)

I think you've already taken the first very important steps - getting a T, and getting meds. Have those meds changed anything in a positive direction?

Welcome, lxegirl. Good for you that you are getting help. The problem is that the treatment is not working. Tell your therapist. Give him the list of symptoms that are problematical. Ask for your meds to be reviewed, adjusted and/changed. Tell the therapist you need more relief. Ask how you and the therapist can work together to achieve a better result.

Love yourself. Be well.
Thanks for this!
