Every aspect of my life feels out of control. Mostly my mood swings....

Today I went and saw my SW and talked to her and she asked me to see my family doctor for a refferal to a child psychologist and I was fine with that and whe I left I was satified on how our meeting went. After school I went to my doctors appointment and I was extremely hyper; just giggling away and laughing. The doctor walks in, starts to talk to my mom and he starts talking too much to my mom about my O.D. and I get pissed like a ****ing time bomb I just blew it.

From being hyper, to instantanious pissed and I start yelling at my doctor. Im so pissed I tell my family doctor to **** off.

WTF IS WRONG WITH ME
I feel so out of control with my moods its scary and its seriously terrifying me. Now the doctor thinks I am crazy and on drugs in a litteral sense.

Holy **** WTF CAN I DO. Im not apologizing for my crazy *** mood swings that I cant controll. **** Im terrified of talking to anyone because Im scared i'll just blow up.

If the doc thought you were doing street drugs he would have ordered a drug screen. But you did real good on letting the doc what you were going through. They can diagnose you quicker and get you the right help faster. Safe Hugs, NF.

Your behavior did one thing good...it hopefully enabled the doctor to see what's going on with you. So, instead of having to try and explain it, you just put it out there for all to see. That's okay.

Seriously, though...at your age, you really should focus on trying to get better because depression only gets harder with age...trust me.

Super! Your "display" for your doctor was worth hours of explanations. You lost control in front of the right person.

Yeah, I agree with the others, your 'explosion' was probably a blessing in disguise. It can take so long to get a doctor to understand what you're going through. When I see my therapist the only thing I can say is that "I've been up and down" but she really doesn't SEE it, but your doctor has seen it now and knows what you're dealing with.

And don't worry about your doctor thinking you're crazy. He's a doctor so he'll understand this stuff more than the average person.

Now your doctor is aware of the sitation hopefully the right steps will be taken to help you. Has he referred you to a psychologist like your SW suggested?

Brennan, don't worry too much about it. If he's sending you for tests it's to help you. You know you're not taking drugs but if you were and they missed it then they would end up mis-treating you. So I guess they have to try test these things. Maybe you would have had to have a urine test anyway? Are you new to the doc at all? When I joined my doctors I had to give a urine sample.
But either way he's just doing his job, I guess. And it will get done soon enough. Shame you have to wait longer for your referral though, I hope it comes quickly. How come that doctor can't do it and you have to see another?

I can't be certain, but this may be your first encounter with medical bureaucracy.

Doctors try not to do any more work than they have to. Here's a hypothetical conversation between your doctor and whatever doctor to whom he'd like to refer you:

Your Doctor: I'm referring Brennan to you. She has symptoms that may indicate depression, etc.
Referral Doctor: Hmmm... Did you rule out ["rule out" - key phrase] illegal drugs, diabetes, kidney problems with a simple urine test? Did you rule out hypothyroidism [which can mimic depression] with a blood test?
Your Doctor: Well, um...
Referral Doctor: Show me the papers first, then I'll see her. Excuse me, my tee time at the golf course is in 20 minutes...

I find this frustrating. I've learned to live with it, mostly.

I think Rohag and the others may be right about it just being procedural. Try to bear it the best you can and good luck to you.
