Hi, I'm new here. I have had major depressive disorder all my life but was just diagnosed about three years ago. I'm on prozac now and usually I'm fine but every once in a while I'll have a day where I feel like I did before I started. It never lasts longer than a day or two but it's not a normal mood. Does anyone else have this happen?

More or less, yes. I can certainly say that my moods vary, even within a single day, despite long-term antidepressant use.

Hi Mareia, welcome to PC!

I have bad spells too, despite the meds. They put me out of commission for anywhere from a day to a week at a time. Not fun! It helps for me to make note of any triggers for my depression. For instance I'm more likely to hit a rough patch if I haven't been sleeping/eating properly, if I'm under a lot of stress, etc. Are there any things you know for certain set off your depression, and can you do anything to minimize their impact?

Best of luck!

Yes I agree that every path has bumps...it's just how we handle the bumps that makes the difference.
