Just as I imagined, I found a number of sites that allow you to chart your mood, e.g.
http://www.moodpanda.com/
https://www.moodtracker.com/

I've neither used not registered for either but I might consider it if anyone can recommend it as a tool to help identify patterns or imminent blackspots. Anyone here found charting their moods useful in any way or even unhelpful at all?

I haven't tried a mood tracker exactly, but I do a lot of journal's and diaries. It's another way to keep track I guess, but with more detail. I just found it as a good venting method.. to prevent myself from burdening other people with my problems.. But I think I'll try one of those, just to see how it works out.

Another good site, based off the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance page is http://www.facingus.org -- it includes a Wellness Tracker (basically a mood chart), ability to journal, make a wellness plan, and share your inspirations.

I've found the mood tracking helps considerably to show to my pdoc because I can never quite remember all those pertinent details off the top of my head. And the wellness plan reminds me what coping skills and supports I have when I need them.
Thanks for this!

I'd rather someone 'burden' me than know they're suffering in pain and despair because no one stops to listen. Caring about a person is not a burden, it's being human and opening one's heart to loving and being loved in return. It can be a chance encounter or a lifelong friendship, but taking that moment to care is what makes us different than those people who accept our "I'm fine" as a real answer.

Though writing IS a good way to blow off steam, I agree.

I just wanted to point out that it's okay to share. Isn't that what we're here for? To be supported and support one another.

I use mood tracker weekly and print and take to Pdoc appointment. Helps me to remember how my month was between appointments. I think my overall willingness to have attention to my moods has helped me cope.
best to you.

Oh yeah, I know there are some people that help me, and this site helps a lot when I need it, but there are still some days when I don't feel like talking about it to anyone. Most of the people I'm surrounded by on a daily basis don't take the time to listen, especially my Dad. So I adopted the journal as something to help me. I never really have one normal day and it has made my friends a little depressed, or annoyed when I would talk about it.

i use moodtracker.com too & i'd recommend it. i also talk to my journal more than people IRL about my deepest, darkest depression thoughts. i feel like the people IRL would be shocked if i was totally candid.

I've used MoodTracker and I found it useful because it really showed me how badly I was doing. Pretty much every day I was recording moderate to severe depression and/or anxiety and/or irritability and this was over several months. It definitely made me realize that I needed to get more professional help. Since re-starting medication and getting back into therapy I haven't been back to MoodTracker, but this thread made me think about it again, so thank you for that! I do think it is a useful tool. I also really like the sound of the wellness site that RecoveryInstructor mentions.
