I am searching for positives in my life. I have been feeling very depressed lately. I just don't like being myself. And I really don't have much to live for.

I don't know what to do.

Excuse the depressing post

Try making a list of positives in your life...maybe then you will be able to see the positives in your life. This is no easy task by any means.

Listing the positives is good advice.
I was feeling a bit down this morning, and did this mentally. It helped!

HI and welcome to PC ! Making that list is a great idea, but you can also ask people who know you to make a list......sometimes when we are depressed we cannot SEE the good things about ourselves and our lives ! Good luck - depression is no fun at all.

I agree with Parker. Get other people to make lists for you. It's what I do for my friends when they're feeling down.

justaman,

Maybe if you work on understanding the reason for your depression, your mood will begin to change. Sometimes depression is a red flag that there are things to be delt with, so further ignoring it or trying to make yourself be happy makes it worse. For me, the times that I have grown, is when I've acknowledge the things behind my pain and sadness to someone. Maybe a professional can help you.

I know you said you're searching for positives, but when you're really depressed, anything that truly is positive still won't be counted as much. Even if others give you a list, you will discount the items... it's part of the cognitive distortions that depression causes... try and not decide anything while you are so blue... just be... for right now... do what you can, and must... and don't beat yourself up over it. Your T will help you get through this... TC
