Hello everyone,
After overdosing on 4000mg of seroquel and going into hospital for a week, I'm out of hospital again and doing 10 weekly treatments of ECT, most likely more. I'm out of school for the semester, taking it easy and focusing on my health until next semester (about February). Does anybody have any good ideas on what to do to focus on my health, anything that would be beneficial to me? So far I can think of attending the groups here on PC, socializing with friends and family, and that's about it. What activities do you guys do that benefit you and relieve you of your depression? ![]() |

Hi ((((((Melissa)))))) I'm really glad you're out of the hospital
![]() I find exercise helps my mood. I have dogs so I go hiking with them every day and I make sure they are energetic hikes up hills and things. I also do some trail running. These are things I enjoy, and that is key! I think the success of any exercise program depends on the person actually getting some enjoyment out of it!! Is there any exercise you enjoy that you could commit to doing on a regular basis? Another thing that comes to mind is daily meditation practice. It might be helpful to do a class to help get you started. These are just two things that help me personally. I hope you find lots of ways to do positive things for your health in the coming months! ![]() |

I would echo sundog with the recommendationation of exercise. I would also recommend paying close attention to diet and sleep as they affect our mental health.
Hope things are looking up for you. ![]()

The only thing that really worked for me is medication (Lexapro). Once that kicked in and I was feeling better, I started doing other things to help myself. Exercise has been a big help, especially when I get stressed out. Also I've been trying to eat healthy and get more sleep, but you know how that goes...
![]() Best of luck to you. ![]() ~MT

Hi Melissa
Thank goodness you survived the seroguel overdose. You have thought of a lot of good ideas. The other that have answered your post have also come up with so great ideas too. I don't think I can add any helpful information. I underwent 5 month's of ECT treatments. During the treatments head aches and being sleepy after the treatment were the most prominent side effects. So finding ways to minimize these types of effects are the important part. I wish you the best of luck.
