I know what is going to follow is not easy to do but I thought it can makes us stop and think and maybe try our best. That's all we can do.

Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens. Not by what life brings to us but by the attitude we bring to life.

I agree with that 100%.

It is one of my most basic philosophies of life.

Great post.

I agree. In this case, this was a "philosophy" that I developed through life even before I was hit with depression. It has been my philosophy in good times and bad. When depression hit it bacame very hard to retain my "connection" with this philosophy, but it is the connection that I try hardest to reestablish because I believe what you said about how powerful it will be to my healing if I can reconnect and truly believe that again.

That statement has been the basis for a lot of great thinking. (And great living, too.)

I remember once having a light bulb go off in my head, looking directly at my therapist, and saying something like "This is mostly me in my head doing it to myself, isn't it?". She smiled and nodded as she watched me.

I wasn't blaming myself or beating myself up, I was having a true aha! moment about attitude.

Wow, a very cool experience SarahL. It almost seems like something you have to discover on your own. You have to live it. Just hearing it tends to make people feel blamed.
