Why is there no middle ground between waiting for a doctor's appointment and going to the hospital?
We're not supposed to talk about suicide here but why isn't there anyone like a sponsor I can call right now? Before you say call the suicide hotline: I won't. All it is is some superficial interaction with a person who keeps you on the phone until they call the police. That's not what I want. I want someone who knows me who can really talk to me. |

You raise an excellent question. I was just thinking about that recently actually. There are other 12 step programs (for eating issues, children of alcoholics, codependents, and many others) where sponsors can be found. Not sure any of those fit for you though. I went to a non addiction 12 step program in my early 20s and found a sponsor and some support for my depression and other issues. And it sounds like you feel like you need a mentor/friend you can call when you are struggling? I understand that for sure, and I hope you are able to find someone in your life to talk to.

There are Emotions Anonymous groups that might be suitable for someone with depression and wherein one might find a sponsor.
