I understand how you're feeling because I have felt that way myself many times. The only thing that worked for me was to repeat the Serenity Prayer to myself. In the past, I always wanted to awe everyone with the things I did, the table I set for holidays, how my house looks, the gifts I gave. It was tough, but when I realized there was absolutely nothing I could do about many of those things, at least I stopped obscessing about it. I was still dissapointed with my circumstances (not myself!). I told myself that it wouldn't always be that way.

If your family can't understand or accept the way things are for you at the time, then it's their problem. Try to shed the guilt and shame you may feel, even if it feels entirely shelfish, think of what YOU need! Most importantly give it to yourself if at all possible.

Lord, give me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to change the things I can,
and the Wisdom to know the difference.

I hope this helps just a bit. I AM HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING IT TOGETHER HELP!!!!!!!

>>i don't know if it is me, or that everyone in my famly seems to be angry with me.

If you are suffering depression, always remember that your perceptions of things and people around you are filtered through the darkness of depression. There is a good likelyhood that it is you. Don't let the depression cut you off from the people who love you and want to help.

Is there any way anyone can help you with your meds? That is such a bad position to be in, my heart really goes out to you. Also talk to your doctor to see if he has any recommendations. The drug companies supply doctors with free samples to give out to patients so he may be able to give you some if you are lucky. I also think it is important to let him know that you can't take your meds because you can't afford them. He cannot treat you properly if he doesn't know the whole truth as to what is going on.

I feel so bad about all the stories with what people loose because our society can't really provide the help that people really need. I am likely going to be in the same boat, I am OK now but I have been out of work for 3 months now and I am quickly running out of money. I have absolutely no family to rely on for financial help, only family is my dad who is a huge financial burden on me and a toxic relationship to begin with.

Good luck soscared I hope you can find a solution to your immediate problems, some relief from the depression over time, and can be well on your way toward a better happier life. In the meantime keep posting here, people can give advice or just lend an understanding ear to listen. That in itself can be a huge help.

Soscared,
I am sorry to hear about you problem with getting your meds. I myself am having reouble keeping together, even with my meds. I dont know much Canadian precriptions, but I am on state medicaid, and pay co-pay for each I am now even more grateful for the medicaid. From my family doc I take 8 which I called in to the pharmacy today, and 6 from my pDoc, for a total of 14 routine meds a month. I am scared of what would happen if I didn't have the insurance, at last I checked my meds cost close to $2000.00 a month. I hope you can get samples. I wish you the best of luck.

Hang in there,
Kris

Some doctors will give out lots of samples of meds instead of a prescription if you tell them you can't afford it, and they'll keep giving you more if you keep calling when you run out. Could you try that? Otherwise, you can ask your doctor for referrals to places that help with medications--there are lots of programs out there.

soscared,

The idea about calling your doc for samples is great. My doc did the same with prescriptions. He would find samples to give me before I filled the script.

Also.. can you talk to your family? Let them know what's going on? Maybe they can help you find a way to get your meds, even if they don't have the money to loan you. Sometimes it helps just having someone there to guide you through the motions of what you need to do.
