for once i can actually post about how good I feel, rather than how confused and upset!!! i had a talk to my aunt last night and it held led to a conversation about my mother's mental illness and how it is particularly bad atm but she still won't seek help. Anyway, i ended up talking about my depression and how last year i had a particularly bad episode and finally went on prozac and how well it had been working for me. And you know what she responded?! " Yeah, it's pretty good isn't it, I take it too". I felt like I had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders b/c finally I've got a family member who acknowledges it and understands what it's like and that means so much to me...she is the best made a breakthrough!

I'm glad to hear that you have that family support system that you can relate to! That's a big plus, especially when things get really tough. made a breakthrough!

Good for you Zombiette.
There seems to be a few kiwis accessing this site. It's really quite good huh. Lot of people in the same situations trying to back up other people. It's really quite amazing actually that people can sum up enough strength to give words of encouragement to others in despair or whatever. I'm glad you've had this breakthrough. It means you have someone you can hold onto when times get tough. I haven't found anyone yet as such who i can share the same experience with. I feel like I'm on an island unto my own really. It's great that all these people on this site have caring words to share and all, but the best thing is having a physical presence with you with similar troubles. I'm sorry to hear about your mothers mental illness at the moment- that must be really tough on you! Good for you though for feeling bit better though! It's a real big step in the forwards direction!!! I only hope we can all be this lucky!

Can i just ask out of interest what you are studying?
I'm a student at the university of Auckland- studying the bachelor of pharmacy. Just interested to know that there are other people who are students in the country that are possibly also feeling like i do a lot of the time! I feel a wee bit less alone
