I realized today that I've been kind of unintentionally starving myself. My bf has said I've been losing weight, but not alarmingly.. I was working out for a while so he thought that was the cause, but I haven't worked out in a couple weeks.

I thought hard about it this morning and realized that I've only been having maybe one (not very balanced) meal a day, and a couple mini cupcakes at work sometimes. I'm getting concerned..

I just kind of forget sometimes

Depression can have many symptoms. Loss of appetite is a good one; fatigue; apathy; weepiness; loss of interest in hobbies, friends, but I guess that goes in with apathy;

Depression can affect people in different ways, but the above symptoms are probably the most common. Some people don't even know they're depressed, probably because it's come on slowly and they haven't noticed it. Then if their doctor puts them on an antidepressant, and it begins working, they're alarmed at how much better they feel! They didn't know they had felt that terribly low!

Therapy is probably the best solution for depression, as you get to the root of the problem. Once you find out the reason for depression, you can work on getting rid of the cause so it never comes back again. But some of us have clinical depression which is where the chemicals and hormones in the brain are lacking, and have to be replaced by medication so that they feel better. That is what has happened to me, as i've been depressed since I was a very small child. I don't remember feeling "normal" whatever that is. LOL

I wish you the very best. Sorry I'm so long-winded. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee

This is a common sign of depression - and as Leed said that depression affects people in different ways sometimes it's loss of apetite. I would suggest to you that you try and find the cause of this depression and if you very honestly can't think of one then you should perhaps see a therapist or if you can't get out of your depression either you should seek help! I really hope you find what is causing all of this and I hope you feel better soon Take care!

As Leed posted, loss of appetite can be a symptom of depression, but blackouts such as the one you recently experienced are a whole other matter. I understand you do not have ready access to health care, nevertheless I would make it a priority to get a full medical screening. You might call 211 (United Way/AIRS) and see if they can direct you to any local resources.

Wishing you health and better!

Change in eating habits and/or weight can be a symptom of depression.
