I just heard on the radio a guy talking about how all these people are faking their disabilities just to get SSD/SSI, blah, blah, blah. My son chimed in and agreed with him. And he knows I'm trying to get on it.Now I'm real upset. Oh, I don't doubt that there are a lot of people who are faking it, but it is almost to get SSDI even if you do have a disability--it's not like they're just randomly giving checks to anyone who walks in the social security office.

Don't get me started on radio personalities.

I was reading that before the protestant reformation, work was seen as a form of unnecessary greed. Which means if you want more then what the garden of eden provides which was everything, then saddle yourself on up into slavery.

Well, Shortandcute, there is that element in society, and it's something that will probably always exist as long as there are humans who do not have a sense of moral responsibility. I do believe, like you, that it is difficult to get disability insurance and
I think that the authorities try to get as close as they possibly can to help those who really deserve the coverage.

You will probably get approved and receive what is designated for your status.

I would try not to worry about the negatives you hear on the radio. (I don't even
listen to radio or watch tv...there is so much corruption out there.) And there
are some good, conscientious people out there, too, who are trying to do the best
they know how to be protective.

Try to be patient and not worry. Keep in touch and let us know how things go for you.
Thanks for this!

The radio uses emotions to control people. If something on there sets you off they intended to do it.

I am sorry. That must have hurt to hear your son say that

I don't watch or listen to the news very often anymore because it has become so manipulative and divisive.

((((S&C) I think there will always be a small percentage of the population that will (try to) scam their way through life. Try not to worry about that...you know your truth
Thanks for this!

I'm sure there ARE people that fake it. But I truly believe that the vast majority of people are genuine. Perhaps I'm too eager to see the good in people, but it IS what keeps me from going postal at any given moment.

(To big brother government reading my posts: I didn't mean that literally. I swear.)

I think that people that fake it for the sake of check are sick. And not the legitimate kind of sick. It's flat out wrong and it's always disheartening to think of how many truly legitimately sick people get turned down while others can fake their way through the system.

I try not to pay too much mind to TV or radio personalities though. They are loud, obnoxious, and voice only the most ridiculous opinions just for the sake of getting ratings.

I don't want to think about who is faking it. If robots took your job and jobs are taken by pretty people with social ability are you faking it. Who is faking it. Geez.

Change the station or turn off the radio It is not at all easy to get SSI/SSD or whatever. I've been at points in my life where things were bad enough to apply for disability. The first time I had 3 doctors and a therapist on my side. Turned down.
The second time I had 2 doctors including the Pdoc that SSA hired. Turned down. It can't be that easy to qualify.
BTW I read an article last week about this issue of people applying for disability due to the economy and being approved. Research showed that it just isn't happening. That isn't going to stop rightwingers from believing it's true.
Good luck. I'd feel better knowing you got it.

Maybe you just don't qualify as a human being anymore are you faking it? Of course. Only qualified people who are not faking it may apply.

Sometimes people can get agitated when there are things which logically make no sense. Like people faking to get on disability. That does not make any sense. The whole idea. But then the majority in spite of pure logic will believe there is such a thing and start deciding who will live and who will die.
