I am feeling so bad. We are hoping to make atrip up north to visit our kids and grandkids. But I am afraid if I do ont feel better soon i will be in the hospital instead. Mt P doc has upped my zoloft but i don't feel it yet. My T is oot of town. I just feel very unconfortable in my body and very depressed. I know I have beeen here before and gotten better but it is just taking so long.

You will feel better again. Go take a walk. Listen to music. Talk to a friend. Go shopping. Sit outside and watch the birds. Dance.

I hope you feel better soon BUT if you end up in the hospital then maybe that is where you are meant to be and maybe that is not a bad thing and it does not make you a bad person ... just makes you a human being with depression, hoping to get better.

Keep in touch and give the Zoloft a few more days to kick in. In the meantime, try
"the lemon thing" if you have any lemons in the refrigerator. That might relieve a little
of the tension; it does work for some of us.

Try to sleep well; that always helps. Ask your psychiatrist for an anti-anxiety medication to help your feeling tone on the trip if you need it. It could be something about the trip and visit that are affecting you even now.

Let us know how you are getting along tomorrow, please.

Depression is an illness, it is not your fault. As much as we want to be there for others do put yourself and your treatment first, in the long run taking care of you will be best for everyone. Forcing yourself to take a trip before you are ready will not be enjoyable for anyone. Talk it over with your docs and T if he/she returns before the trip and make sure you are ready.

I went through a crisis in March, and hid what a dangerous place I was in emotionally.

I wish that I hadn't done that.

I was afraid that I would put too much stress on my family, who I live with. I know now that if I get to that dark place again, that I HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL.

I hate it there, but it will be the safest place for me to be.

If you think you should go, then that probably means you should go. The professionals there will screen you to make sure you really belong there, but it sounds to me that you do need to go.

Lots of love and strength to you on this painful part of your journey.

Just hold on and take care of you. Your family will understand. They want you well.

I agree with those who think you should get checked out. Sometimes antidepressants run their course and stop working. Maybe it is time possibly to try a new one? I also agree about the anxiety opinion. I just recently was switched to a long acting anti-anxiety med instead of what I had previously been taking for panic attacks. (short acting?) I could have sworn I was super depressed but since this particular switch I feel so much better, like night and day. I am not telling you what drugs to take at all but sometimes it is a good idea to check with a Dr. to see if there is something else to try.

Is your therapist also your Dr? How long is a long time for the Zoloft not to be kicking in? These are things a professional would likely be able to answer and get you the help you need.

I feel really bad that you are so low right now. I was too just 10 days ago and now I have walked my dogs 3 times this week, I actually can't believe it. I will be here if you need anyone to vent to or talk to if you would like to send a private mssg as well. Take care & feel better!

Hi Shery, maybe hospital is where you are meant to be. I know that you don't want to be seen to be the one to cancel your trip but if you are not able it wouldnt be wise to go. That's just my opinion. I hope you come out on top. Tlke care of yourself, and best wishes.

Unless you are really in danger I don't recommend avoiding the visit---as long as seeing the kids and grandkids usually is a good thing----I often find I do better when I do what I am anxious about, even during depressive episodes, than when I avoid them....
