This year has been such a roller coaster. I have been fighting major depressive episodes since February. I had been good on my meds for three years but this year they just stopped working. Now the doctor is talking about switching all my meds since adding to them isn't really working.

I just have been feeling so alone lately. My wife just doesn't understand what I am going through and when I try to talk to her she makes me feel worse. I had a friend I could talk to about it but now she is sick of hearing about it too. So I have no one to talk to but my therapist and that just isn't enough lately. I just want this roller coaster to end.

Sorry you are having such a battle with depression. I'm fighting the same battle and have had medicine stop working. So I sympatize with you.

Depression is hard for family members to deal with. They don't know what to say or what to do because nothing works. They get furstrated and feel at a loss of what to do.

I'm glad you are seeing a therapist. Have you tried taking your wife in for some marital counseling? Might make her understand it more.

Hopefully, whatever meds the doctor puts you on will work for you. Good luck.

Thanks Gayle. My therapist has mentioned bringing my wife in for a session but I am not sure if I am ready for that. She tries to understand but just can't. When I mentioned before that I was in crisis she kind of scoffed at it. I love her and the kids but I am so exhausted and stressed that I feel like running away. I don't want to do that to them though. My therapist wants me to take time off because she says it will make me a better mother in the end but I feel so guilty if I am not supporting my family and doing what needs to be done around the house.

It sounds like you have to be put on new medications, and I know that is scarey. I would suggest taking a little "you time" off. It doesn't have to be a big vacation. Instead you can take five minutes when the kids are asleep to journal.
