Well, for those of you who don't know, Amanda Knox has been sentenced to prison again, to spend decades of her life being violently raped there.
 You may wonder why I'm posting this in the depression forum. Well, the thing is, the Amanda Knox case means a lot more to me than it does for the average person. I first heard about the case way back in 2008. I did a little research about it after hearing about it on the news, and I felt really, really, bad for her. I became very passionate about her case and that lead to me becoming passionate about other cases. I have even wrote to several inmates in prison myself. When she was found innocent in 2011, I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. And now, all that is gone. It's over. It's back to being raped and beaten for her. What is the point of either me or her going on? Life just seems meaningless. I want to die.

It is unlikely that Knox, who lives in Seattle, Washington, will return to Italy to serve additional prison time because U.S. law dictates that a person cannot be tried twice on the same charge, a legal expert told CNN. He believes that if Italy were to ask for extradition, U.S. officials would deny the request.

Says CNN. You might as well take financial advice from Spongebob Squarepants.
Obama will take her over there himself if he has to, just to please his right-wing overlords who despise all young women. She WILL be back in another prison, either in America or overseas, simply because of her age and gender.

Please try to get in touch with a hot line or someone to talk to, your posting sounds urgent. And what healingme4me posted was true, it's unlikely she'll go back to prison in Italy

I explained it in the first post. I am VERY passionate about inmates' rights and corruption in the legal and penal systems. Her case was the one that jumpstarted that passion. Therefore, I feel very emotional about her.

Well, it's pretty much the worst thing that could ever happen to anybody. It's not like she just lost her job or got a speeding ticket or something. She will spend the next 28 years being RAPED AND BEATEN DAILY. I'd say that's worth being suicidal about.
I know she is.

It's not hurting me anywhere near as much as it's hurting her.
This is a problem with society. From birth, we're taught that empathy is bad. That's why you're acting like this. I've worked hard to be empathetic, and I still suck at it. But at least I try. I try to be depressed, because that's how she feels. And I am depressed. But not nearly enough. I deserve to be raped in prison, not her.

Well, I doubt many people are feeling happy after learning that they're being sentenced to 28 years in prison. But if you really and truly believe she's having some "YAY! I GET TO GO TO PRISON!!!" party, do some research about her.
Feeling another person's pain is what you do when you care about that person. Like, I've read news stories about some kid getting cancer and having to go through chemotherapy, and all his classmates had their heads shaved in solidarity. I need to do at least that much, so I need to be in prison. Plus, I'm a bad person anyway, so I deserve to be there anyway. |
