Hi everyone. Hope you had a great thanksgiving. Iam having trouble with depression again. I want to be a better person.I feel like a failure. I really want my parents to be proud of me for something. I know they love me. I feel like a burden. I don't have a job, Iam not really good at anything, I still havent passed my college exam yet, I got in a car accident in the beggining of the semester. Instead of progressing I am degressing. I don't know how I can make my parents proud, they have done everything for me, and I havent returned the favor. I am having trouble sleeping again. Any suggestion on being a better person, and ending selfish thoughts?

Just know that you are not selfish. I use to feel the same way! It took me a couple years to get out of that stage. You need to take care of yourself and not worry about your family being proud of you. You will find out in the end that they are proud of you no matter what you do. I know it's not easy to be in college and to have all this extra stress on you. Just hang in there. Things will get better. *hugs*

daisy, your family are proud of you, and they obviously love you dearly. we never have to prove anything to anyone, we dont have to live life being what we think others want us to be. be your own person, do what you want - career wise - and just take your time dealing with depression. it wont go away easily and it takes alot of hard work. so you need to stop thinking about how your family feel and focus on yourself, and that is the least selfish thing you can do.

i understand your need to impress your family, to make them proud, but you will only make yourself more unhappy doing this all the time. if they know you have depression and they see you work hard to heal yourself, they will be so so proud of you. how couldnt they?

you are not a failure. and you are a good person with a good heart.

the way you can make them proud of you is to chase your own dreams, and to be a happy person. but to do this you need to deal with your depression.

you have come to the right place to do so. once you begin sorting out your depression things will improve, such as your sleep and college work.

being in a car accident is bound to knock somebody back, its a scary experience. its all lessons that you are learning well, and its what we take fromt hese lessons that determine our success in the future.

take care of yourself and remember i am here for you if you need me, just pm me anytime ok.

Daisy, I would bet anything that your parents are proud of you. It's just the depression trying to take over and don't let it. Keep your mind focused and things will work out. Depression is such a terrible thing. It will try and try to take over different parts of your life until it succeeds if you let it.
I wish you well and hope all your dreams become reality.
