A little over a month ago I started on Lamictal, a new one for me. My mood was gradually improving big time. This last week I was feeling much better and even some of my other symptoms were going away.

Then last night I had a horrible night and today my mood took a huge nose dive. Can't concentrate and just want to sleep although it is hard to get to sleep.

It is so frustrating this thing.

Give your doctor an update. Maybe your meds need adjusting? Hang in there :-)
Thanks for this!

I slept a little better last night. Didn't start waking up until 3am. I slept in until 11am today. This is unusual because I have normally been getting up by 6am and making coffee right away. Today I have no desire to drink coffee which is a sure sign for me. I was just getting alot better but bam a big nose dive in mood and all the other symptoms just when they were starting to get better.

REACH OUT!!!

I'm so sorry...it's awful when we put faith, and have a good start, with a new medication.....only to be disappointed. We can't handle disappointment like people "out there" can...it seems to me anyway....

But don't sink too deep that you can't make that phone call....Have you tried Omega 3?..Fish oil. It does a lot of good for ALL parts of us, but it does have some effect on depression...I will see if I can find the info for you if you're interested...

I have taken fish oil on and off in the past. I have a bottle of it and vitamin D and Sam E and some other one that has to be prescribed and is sort of vitamin B. I quit taking them. I will go take them right now.
It is very frustrating. I do see my pdoc in two weeks and the plan is to go off effexor and try one of the new ones. Viibrydyl I think it is called. I can call monday. he wanted me to call anyway to see how the lamictal was doing. I can't afford the new one unless I can qualify for the drug company program if they have one.

Deplin, L Methyl Folate was the one that the pdoc i did TMS with put me on. There is alot of recent research on this I guess. I haven't checked it out. God knows i need vitamin D in the middle of this Michigan winter.
I put the fish oil and the others with my meds so I will start taking them again. It surely can't hurt.
The pdoc I did TMS with was pretty anti meds and pro supplements. Unfortunately Going off my meds and doing the TMS and going on supplements didn't do anything. If fact after I went into the worse depression I have ever been in. I have very cyclical treatment resistant depression. There is alot of ongoing research on TMS with positive results for alot of people. they are doing clinical trials and some pdocs have bought the equipment to use in their practice.

Warning....Dr Sears sells his own brand so take this for what it's worth....but his article is easy to understand and does refer to some "real" studies.

I take his brand because it's pharmaceutical grade, which apparently matters (in other words....BlankMart brand may not do too much. I also take four a day...and you have to give it about three months...

And, as always, check with your doctor....or do your own research with regards to how it may affect what you are currently taking...(you know the drill......)

Yeah you have to careful with supplements. There are alot of disreputable labs out there. Then you hear horror stories of poisons in supplements and generics coming from China. the fda can't monitor all of them. My brother and sister in law are both pharmacist and owned there own pharmacy. they did alot of research so they could sell supplements they trusted. I can't remember them all but Nature Made was one and it is widely sold. That is what I buy.
I know there is controversy about which forms of fish oil can be absorbed and all that. A pdoc that my other brother brought my nephew too prescribed some form that came in like a jelly. I can't remember the brand though.
