It makes me sick even thinking about going back to work. The psych people I see ask me do I want to go back to work. Well no but I don't exactly have a choice. I have to pay the bills. And I've looked for another job but no luck as of yet. My job is awful for my mental and physical health. And the bad part is I know I have no options. My fiance thinks I should be able to last until December which is when he graduates and we can move but thinking I could last ended me up where I am now. Off work for four weeks because of a breakdown. I don't even know why I'm posting this because there isn't anything I can do. I should just enjoy my last week and a half off but stupid me can't stop thinking about it. It just gets in my head and makes me sick.

Hello maddnessreturns, I recently walked out of a 'good' job because it was not good for my mental health, best thing I ever did!

I hope I can soon if someone will offer me a job just enough to pay the bills.

One of the things I've learned in my recovery is that I always have choices, even if it is a change in attitude. My thinking used to be so black and white and that caused me a great amount of unhappiness.
I have no clue what your bills and your living arrangements are but if you really think your job is your problem, then start brainstorming what you can do not to return, and maybe not work at all or take a part-time, less stressful job until Dec. For example - - debt consolidation loan with small payments - rent a room from a relative (that may be a stretch but ... just throwing things out there ...) if you live near someone who might go for this - move to lesser housing if possible - sell a car if possible and walk - minimize electronics, at least temporarily - any number of other things that might minimize your financial load and maximize your opportunities for less stress and more freedom Then ... - write down some things you might actually like to do - dog walker, sit with an elderly person, volunteer somewhere you like to be, etc etc etc Get your pencil out and make your own lists. Don't let life control you ... you control it. |

I'm working on figuring it out. I currently don't have that many expenses. But I do support my fiancé and I since he is finishing college. So that plays a big part in my options.
I've been applying for jobs around the area. It just a small area not really a city so my options are small. I really want to work in taxes or accounting which is completely opposite my degree. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can totally relate. I am supposed to start a new job in less than a month and I'm concerned how I'm going to be able to do with my mental health. I mean I have the tools to do it, but my anxiety and depression make it this insurmountable thing.
