I have been feeling really down recently, despite being on medication for 6 weeks now (75mg/day Dosulepin)

The thing is, although I had a bit of un-nerving news yesterday, I don't really feel down for the last few days, I just feel really on edge at the moment

Anxious, nervous, like I'm dreading something, afraid to be awake or asleep, just on edge

I don't have anything to worry about at all but I feel so irritable and I can't sleep for more than about 4 hours a night.

I don't feel tired but I am exhausted and I can't concentrate on anything, even reading a newspaper

I haven't had problems with anxiety for a couple of years now and I can't remember if it feels like this, I feel like I'm going crazy and my head is going to explode.

Does anyone ever feel like this?

sounds similar to what I'm going thru - I didn't take my meds like I should have for a couple of weeks.... I can't let myself sleep at times and then out of the blue I slept the clock around cause I couldn't stand to be awake.

I have a severe anxiety problem - usually the meds take care of it - as long as I don't take on too much outside of my home.
Even Presdent Fords death agitated me.

But right now I'm fighting the anxiety ever step of the way. I can't sit, read any books, "settle" .

I know this will pass - but if yours is a NEW med - I'd really talk to my doc - maybe it might be impacting your anxiety level???? I know that I've been on meds that do that to me.

Yes, it sounds as though you have high anxiety. I am sorry you are so on edge. Does the med also cover anxiety?
You may need to change or add a med to cover it.
Take care and hope things will get better for you.
Hugs,
Linda

hello pokadot
I was on Prozac for a long time then I stopped taking them and started taking seretone 5htp from the health food shops- thats an amino acid that works on the seretonin levels .Then I stopped that and started taking Prozac again but I got really anxious ,my teeth were grinding almost,I couldnt sleep,I felt very euphoric but also horribly anxious -like I was on cocaine or something. Then I read this book on Prozac and they were saying it has made people crazy -lose their sense of morals ,sense of self and like they were on speed or cocaine .So I stopped the Prozac -back on the seretone but I think I will have to take 2 tablets- 100mg a day coz I am getting severely deppressed again but I think the weather and other personal reasons might be the reason .Anyway maybe its the medicine you are taking thats making you anxious-maybe you could ask your doctor.

oh and I also take GABA sometimes for anxiety coz I do get unaturally anxious naturally -if you know what I mean. Its banned in England but you can still get it under the Country Life brand in some health food shops.I dont know if I should give info like this but its just another amino acid (protien) so I think its quite harmless.(dont know why it was banned though).

Some antidepressants help with anxiety too, while others can cause anxiety as a side effect. Individual reactions can be different, and I'm not familiar with this med. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about how you are feeling now to see if the prescription needs to be changed or if if he thinks it will get better soon on its own.

Thanks to everyone for your replies...it really does help to know that people care, even just a little bit about how I feel...my family prefer me to say I'm fine I think So on edge, feel like I'm going crazy!

I have to go and see my doctor for my monthly appraisal thing tomorrow so I'm going to mention the anxiety and the fact that I'm not sleeping again, even though that is the reason I'm on this particular medication in the first place instaed of Prozac

Hopefully she'll listen to me a bit more this time and I'll hear when my therapy is going to happen

Hmm, we'll see I guess...

Thanks again everyone
