Hello. Is there anyone doing treatment on their own without drugs or therapy? I really can't afford. I tired the other resources to get help, but now, I'm just tired of that approach.
I'm going to do it on my own and really going to try.
Anyone did that? Doing that.
Need help as I feel I'm going insane.

Hello, eggplantlife

It depends what level of depression you have, if your depression is from low to medium then you should be able to balance it out via exercising, taking supplents such as 5-HTP and kava kava.

I'm a long sufferer of depression and I took anti depressants for many years now I just take these two supplents and they do help me. Do your own research and you can try experimenting with these supplements and see which one beat fits your depression stage.

Good luck and please feel free to message me any time, when I'll have time to reply to you. :-)

I tried exercising. I ttried different herbs. I'll look into 5-http. Someone mentioned that to me. I'll have to see if I can afford it or the person I am staying with can get it for me. A part of me is resisting but I got to keep trying.
I'm severe depression.
I'm really trying to do it by changing my mind. Have to do it.
Thank you.
Thanks for this!

I'm trying the treatment on my own. I know that simply finding gainful employment would catapult me right out of this depression, but work has been elusive. So now, I'm going to start exercising again, and doing what I can to change my diet. I'm taking (by MD orders) a whopping does of Vitamin D because my levels were significantly depleted. I'm looking into the 5 HTP and a couple of other supplements.

I certainly wish you well with this. Depression is terrible...I'll keep an eye out for your progress, and hope that you keep us posted.
Thanks for this!

Vitamin D. I forgot about that. Right now, I'm just taking St. John's Wart.

I'm looking into "Getting out of my head" and focus more on the body. Doing my research and being present and at moment seem to be what I need to do. I do know how to meditate and be mindful. So I'll focus on that for now.
Thanks for this!

You might also look into Deplin. It's categorized as "medical food". I believe you can order it online (methyl folate). My pdoc actually takes himself, no side effects. He called in a 3 month supply for me to take with my AD's & AP's, hopefully to boost serotonin activity. It can also be taken alone as a supplement whatever vitamins/supplements you are currently taking. I know, maybe a longshot.

Although the will is there to will it out, with depression that may not work all the time. In my case it has taking me 15 yrs to be able to cope and overcome depression lapses, understand myself better and to know that being depress is not a crime, it isn't neither something we can have will control over it.

Like I said before, you have to self evaluate yourself, explore your body and mind, see what activity works on your stress/depression better than other. Such as swimming, jogging and so on. Study your sleeping patterns, avoid coffe (specially before going to bed), read books on herbal medicines at Barnes and noble, and start trying the 5-HTP in combination of another herb.

As you try all these things, even if you are severy depressed, you'll get some results. If you need at bit of help I can order one or two containers of 5-HTP for you via eBay to deliver to you. On eBay they are not that expensive, they are expensive at the Vitamin Shop.

Feel better.

Yesterday, I wrote in new thread but realized this morning that it belongs here. I had numbing sensation in my head for few days. I didn't know what it was. I thought maybe someone in forum would know and if it is part of depression.

I'm feeling okay. Not happy but okay. What I'm learning is that I shouldn't expect to be happy.

I'm concentrating on breathing to tonight as my mind started to focus on some past event. I do that now when I wake up and my mind is stuck in past events.
