Hello, I am a new member, and I have been feeling no joy in my life. I should be happy, I am graduating from high school soon, I have a car, i have family and a boyfriend who love me, but I feel nothing!! And this feeling is constant! Also, I feel like I am not needed, my self-esteem is low, and when I laugh at a joke, I really don't find it funny.
Someone help me please!!!!!

I'm sorry you are feeling this way now. I hope things get better for you soon. Do you have anyone you can talk to, parents, school counsilor, someone??

You can always post here....could be a good thing for you. It helps to talk things out.

Let us know more, maybe we can help with ideas for you.

Take good care!

The devoid of emotion thing is the worst. I hope you find someone to talk to. It seemed to me that talking about things is what makes you able to feel again. I am thankful that I only had that part of it for a short-time (seeked a T rather quickly). I hope you find someone that you can trust to talk to about this feeling. I know it is hard to reach out especially when words can't quite describe what this feeling is like. people think of depression as sadness. They forget about the lack of feeling part of it which can be the worst part.

Thank both of you for your replies because you have both said some of what I feel. I try to talk to my parents and friends about this, but they think it is just because I am ready to leave high school, but I feel it may be more than that. However, Since I have become a member of Psych Central Community, I know there are people who know how I feel!!
Thanks

It's difficult for friends and family to understand what depression is like unless they have experienced it themselves. It seems strange to them (and perhaps yourself) that you can feel so down without any obvious reason to. It's definately a good idea to try and find a counsellor to talk to, and perhaps try to get to the bottom of why you are feeling this way.

Hope you feel better soon I just don't know how to feel

Hello and welcome to Psych Central. A therapist is a very good ideal to help you get things and issues and feelings straightened out in your life. Depression is more than just waking up everyday and trying to navigate yourself to feel motivated to do and feel something, it is sometimes chemical imbalance and can be helped greatly with medication and therapy. I hope the best for you take cae Soidhonia
