So I'm new here! And we'll I have depression. I thought I had it under control for quite awhile but it'd starting to get bad again. I think some it has to do with the time of the year. But I just have no motivation. I feel like I don't care. I've never had good self esteem or really loved myself but that seems to be getting worse as well. It's frustrating when things are going alright for a little bit and then it gets worse. I knew my depression wasn't gone but some days I almost forgot about it. Which is crazy to me. I don't know where I was going with this. But I just guess I figured I'd post a bit about me in here. Just trying to figure out how to get through each day one day at a time.

Welcome to PC. You have come to a great place to share your experiences with people who really get what it is like to live with depression. Sorry you aren't doing so well right now and hopefully things will start to pick up soon.

You take one day at a time.

Ground yourself in the moment. Don't think too much about yesterday and don't worry about tomorrow.

Commit to doing one thing for yourself each day.

Even if you don't feel like it.

A bubble bath. Reading a magazine. Lighting scented candles. Aromatherapy. Writing in a journal. Whatever floats your boat.

Remember to take care of yourself physically too.

Wishing you well.

I've noticed a lot of people heading downhill a bit at this time of the year. No outdoor exercise, darkness, family stress...you know.

I was a reasonably highly functioning depressive for a long, long time, but really dragging myself through life with only a lot of difficulty and getting generally worse over time.

My holiday message to you Melissa, though, is that there are ways to get MUCH better and it's worth it to try.

Thank you everyone! Yeah each day is so different. But I do try to do things that I know help me each day. But sometimes all I want is to sleep. Lol.

I understand that feeling. All I want to do is sleep sometimes. Depression takes away your energy. I also have a low self esteem and have battled this all my life. By the way, welcome to pc. Keep posting to us. We understand what you are dealing with because we are or we have been there. Hugs and love to you.
