I feel so depressed right now it's preventing me from doing much. I don't even want to get out of my bed. I need somebody to talk to right now so badly. I hate the way I feel I don't want to feel this way I know I'm capable of so much more but being stuck in bed depressed is doing me no good. I don't see the psychiatrist until next week though, I can wait but I just hate feeling this way in the mean time.

Hello Imabeliever225: I'm sorry to read of your struggle. I don't know what your experience has been with your pdoc, of course. But typically, I believe, psychiatrists mostly prescribe & monitor medications. Perhaps yours does more. But it occurs to me that, if you don't already have one (you don't mention it in your post), you might want to seek out the services of a therapist to help you sort out what it is that is causing you to feel so hopeless & to figure out what you can do about it. I know how difficult it can be to crawl out of the chasm of depression. Just when you need to have the most inner strength, you have none. I send warm thoughts your way with the hope that you will be able to find your way back. Please keep posting here on PC...

Yes I do have a therapist but I haven't seen him for quite some time. My psychiatrist does a little more than prescribe medication thankfully, she will talk to me for a while. Not the full extent of a therapist but enough to know what's going on and how I'm feeling instead of just giving me medicine right away which I like.

Is there any sort of mobile crisis unit or line to call? I'm fortunate that they will make house calls.

I don't know, but that is a good idea I should try looking into that. Thank you.

I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. You say you hate your life. What are you doing about it?
I understand severe depression and the constraints it brings but a psychiatrist is not a savior nor a magician.

It's hard to do much while being depressed but I'm trying to make small changes each day

Hi, I'm sorry that you feel this way. If you need to chat there's an online chat line of experienced "listeners" its: Someone To Talk To, Online Therapy, Free Counseling | 7 Cups I found this on the Depression Forums website. Many people there said it was good.

How are you feeling?

I will check that out when I have some time, that looks like a really good place to go and talk. Thank you! I'm alright, right now I'm doing not too bad, kind of happy but my mood just changed so I'm hoping I stay happy today.

I get that I didn't mean that to criticize or judge you at all. There are quite a few people who have this view of therapists or psychiatrists as some kind of combination of parent/savior lover that seems counterproductive. You will get you through this week just as it was you who got you through last week and you who will get you through all the weeks of your life. There is almost always someone here to talk to.

Don't worry, I knew how you meant it and it's okay I didn't think you were criticizing or judging me at all. I do know some people think that, thankfully I don't. I try each day to do something and some days I'm able to while others I'm not. It gets very frustrating especially when every single day I want to do better and feel like I can't.
