Hello! I found this website by searching "mental health help when you can't afford it," which is my current situation. I have struggled with chronic depression and anxiety for about 7 years now. I responded well to therapy and antidepressants for the first couple years, then started to improve and discontinued them both. I started to relapse about a year ago.

I had finally found a great therapist and was making progress when I was offered a job in a new city and had to take it. So now here I am, and my depression is worsening again. I am so lonely, being so far from my friends and family. I don't know anyone here. Work is stressful and not satisfying. I find myself feeling more and more alone and hopeless every day.

I know I should seek therapy and I plan to. Unfortunately my new jobs insurance doesn't kick in for 90 days after I start (about half of which is remaining). So I'm just looking for some kind words and support until that time.

Thanks for reading. Any advice or kind words would be welcome, especially if anyone has been In a similar situation before.

Hello Whereicomefrom: The Skeezyks welcomes you to PsychCentral! May you find the time you spend here to be of benefit. Major changes, such as you've made, always take some getting used to. And then being prone to depression & anxiety, which it sounds like you are, just makes matters worse. Are there any support groups or leisure activities you could get involved in? Perhaps something of this sort might help to bridge the gap. The Skeezyks sends you his best wishes...

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I am in the same boat that you are in. I just moved to a new place and have no friends. It gets pretty lonely. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but the truth is I am probably struggling just as much as you are and don't really know what to do. I hope things get better and you find a light somewhere. If you ever want to chat, you are welcome to send me a private message.
