mental illness is awful

PS actually this current doctor has helped (a bit) with another issue (severe allergic rash) but they all seem to think nothing of "fibbing" - I am intelligent enough to know this is unlikely to be the case, despite so many bad therapists, NONE being helped? idk..
Been taking Serokill for the last couple of nights. I think I'll skip it tonight..

PS also this doctor thinks I'm not allergic to dust... I wish that was true

How are you all? I am not progressing. But then it's been only 6months that I have seen this new psychiatrist, so it may be another 6months before which I can expect to get well. My next doc appo is on 24th June.

Today I went to the clinic for blood tests and echo color doppler test. Yday I had visited my psychiatrist. He has put me on sertraline 50mg and lithium 800mg. Do any of you know if sertraline is better than fluoxetine in decreasing depression?

can you say more about why your pdoc is using these meds...

To treat my depression. Previously I was on fluoxetine 20mg. He has now changed it to sertraline 50mg as my depression is not improving. I am staying in bed almost the whole day. He told me not to take the divalproex sodium 250mg any more. But I still have to take lithium SR 800mg.

So do you know if sertraline is better than fluoxetine?

Can lithium increase depression in a depressed person?

lithium can do a lot of things to a person good and bad...
I just don't know...why are you being given lithium..

Possibly I am being given lithium as a mood stabiliser so that my depression doesnt turn to mania. I have had one manic episode so far. That too coz a certain med(topiramate) didnt suit me.

BTW I am sick and tired of being depressed, drowsy, tired and dysfunctional.

From my reading, antidepressants can sometimes trigger mania in previously non-manic, non-bipolar patients.

How responsible and sane is it for docs to prescribe one mind-altering drug, then add another, then another… when they don't really even understand what one of these drugs does to a person's brain?

I want to be happy again AND I have to find out how.....
