My depression is linked to this girl that I really care for and love but she is often suicidal and angry towards me. My T says that my emotional state is directly linked to how she treats me. I don't know what to do to get rid of this independence on her for my happiness. Is anybody else going through a similar situation? I'd like some suggestions on how to deal with this.

Maybe you are unconsciously using her as a crutch... an excuse...

maybe not. Ppl who are down often bring those around them down. You may be another sensitive person who has to guard yourself from too much exposure of that type of person. Maybe?

I'd go with your T's suggestion. Wow, to have someone give you direct ideas like that is a keeper.... try separating yourself from the friend for a set amount of time... ask your T... and see how much of a difference you feel.

Welcome.

Thanks. I don't think it's a good idea to just cut off communication with her. Right now she loves me so I'm in a good mood. There's also something else to consider: it seems like she gets through the day only to talk to me that night. I guess we're both dependent on each other. Complications, complications.

I just want to say that I can relate a little. I also know a couple of other people who this probably applies to. It sounds like you have a good therapist.
Hang in there, and keep posting,

Take care,
