For whatever reason, my mind is on a rampage.. I'm 22, about 2.5 years into treatment resistant depression with zero relief throughout this time..

I know there are a lot of you out there with this, who have been stuck in it a lot longer than I could even imagine..

How do you do it? How do you keep going despite waking up every morning and wishing that you didn't? Does it ever get easier? Do you continue on with psychotherapy? Continuously try new meds until you've tried them all? Is there ever any relief.from this dark and gloomy world?

i'll say here what i've said in another thread.
for me, I see 2 options

either just lay in bed and do absolutely nothing, which won't help at all, or at least get up and do stuff (even though I don't want to)

I think as long as you're making an effert, and as long as your willing to put up with the bad, debilitating days, their's at least a chance things can get better for you (eventually)

what i'm trying to say is lying down and just taking it won't improve things at all

medications, therapy, yep.. that all helps, but also doing stuff you like doing.

talking to people who support you and understand

make a concious effert to eat right and possibly exercise (here I am saying exercise, and I don't even do it myself)

you get my drift

1 of the things that help me too is rooteen.

living by a skedule makes life that little bit easier

rather than saying.. well, I don't know anything that's going to happen tomorrow, you say- well, maybe some of the day will be unplanned, but I know at at least at this time I have this, this time I do that, etc.

you can't plan an entire day (things go wrong every day, and their's nothing you can really do about that)

but you can help make a rooteen for yourself

I'm on the same stage. Yes, life is like hell. Nothing helps. I just keep changing meds without no relief. All I get is uncomfortable side effect. I do wish if I did not wake up in the morning. But I continues therapy and meds. If we don't do anything, things will never get better. It may help. it may not, but I get a little bit relief by seeing therapist knowing someone is fighting against this with me and I'm not alone.

Hi, There are so many anti-depressants available now. Have you tried different ones...is your pdoc aware of your ongoing depression?

Yeah pdoc is aware and I'll be finding out on Monday what our next step is going to be regarding the current med that I am on.. I've been on this one for around 4 months, the pdoc is kind of rubbish, but a free service which is obviously affordable in that way..

Do you also have anxiety? I don't know how much help this will be but lately I have been listening to various meditations on you tube. There's lots to choose from and it helps me quiet down my negative thoughts and the constant worrying, which in turn seems to help with the depression.

Not a lot of anxiety, mostly just the day of therapy.. My T has a few meditation things that I try on occasion, but my mind really needs to be in it... I donno, I'm a pain in the butt to treat -_-
