Sometimes just putting one foot in front of the other is all one can do. Life can sometimes seem "dull" but we'd be worn out if life was "happy clappy" each day. Perhaps these "down" times are a time to go "inside" and listen to whats going on for us amid the clatter of living?

The one thing that I do when I have one of those days, I take a look at one of the pics of my kids and remember how happy they make me. You may not have kids so think of a beautiful rainbow, or the dewdrops on the ground.
This too shall pass.

I look for a book to read, to spark an interest somewhere, a thought. I have a few projects too; blogs, websites, school studies and projects and I've thought of or started. If I'm really hating the dullness, anxious to break out, I'll pick something I don't want to do and that will get me finding something I prefer to do instead. Sometimes though, just sorting through old papers or cleaning up a bit will uncover something "interesting" and/or get things neater or distract me a bit.

Hi Mel, it seems the past few days have been very boring for me as well. Then comes the frustration and anger along with it. I don't know whether you work or not, but I am at home alone all day with plenty of things I should do, but nothing that I really want to do. Life just seems to pass me by with everyone doing their thing and with me watching but not wanting to contribute much. I guess that's the depression talking. However, during the day when I am in my hyponmanic mood swings I just want to organize everything and especially do things that are dangerous like gambling and drinking alcohol while I am there, or go shopping when I shouldn't, then hide what I buy. Crazy thinking goes along with it. So when I am bored I should be thankful at least I am safer than going out there among others and later feeling guilty for what I might have done. I hope you can find some healthier things to occupy your time than I do. But to be completely real to myself the bad things right now are the only ones that give me pleasure. Anyone else have these feelings and what stops you from doing the wrong things during depression and manic times?

like mouse said one step at a time , i think of a small goal or milestone to make it and hope that when i get there i will have the srength to make it to the next one, sometimes i feel better sometimes i have to set another small milestone, it was like when i first started running, i hated the pains in my legs but i knew i had to go through it if i was to continue on the cross country team, so i would run and say to my self i just need to make it to the next mail box and when i got there i felt some small measure of success and then i would say to myself now just make it to that next stop sign, this continued and eventually i could run 5-7 miles with no significant pain,
somtimes it also helps if i have a hobby or something to disctract myself from the really bad times too. my problem is sometimes a throw myself into a new project where i become consumed by it, i think that is part of my ocd though h;ope this helps Linda
