I do not like what is going on in psychiatry...we are not being treated as human beings...we are just a number with a diagnosis and a drug..

We shouldn't teach doctors what to do.

1) Bedside manner - will tell soon
2) Not ordering tests - they've a lot of experience and I believe they can diagnose us just by talking to us and observing us, no need to go for fancy blood tests. An essential part of therapy/diagnosing is to not let the patient know....
3) Outdated meds, "it's your fault," - I am not familiar with the UK system, but I am pretty sure it's not the doctors to blame, it's the government/administration. As far as for outdated meds, the internet can be pretty deceiving...

Desiree2006, here you can see Splendor+ is apparently discontinued as claimed by the website.Look how many people have reviewed the bike. This is not true,at least in our city Splendor+ still sells. Reading over the internet can be tempting, but it may not always give correct information... the iv may have something else in it, I believe pharmaceutical companies "mask" the ingredients with the names of others, to help to make it a good treatment plan... personal experience.

Sorry but that is absolutely incorrect. Do you really think my doctor shouldn't monitor my lithium levels, or order blood tests to check my thyroid/kidney function? No doctor can tell my lithium level just by talking to me, and I would much rather any changes in my organ function were picked up before I start showing symptoms.

No they don't. It is not at all uncommon for drugs to be marketed under different brand names in different countries, or even within the same country for different indications. But they would be breaking the law if they tried to mask the active ingredients.

Despite my bad experiences I actually have a lot of respect for the medical profession as a whole but I do not subscribe to the rose-tinted view that all doctors are good and noble. Similarly, the pharmaceutical industry is not as evil as it is often portrayed...

They would like us to say “I’ve been feeling a bit down doctor”

Then they could say “here’s something that will help”

“Come back in 3 months”

“Thank you doctor”

(If I could tolerate the meds I would take them)
You could not have hit the nail in the head so precisely with this post if you had hit the central atom's nucleus.

We have a lot to contend with, then we visit the doctor to drive us properly mad in the UK.

“Then we visit the doctor to drive us properly mad in the UK” - I agree ..

We already have a lot to contend with. I can’t imagine what’s going through their minds when they are so callous ... and not even “accurate” often

I just say now “not too bad” if they ask how I’m doing.. burned one too many times

Their words stick with the minimum number of syllables.

It surprises me that there aren’t more people quietly.. exiting.. when the people who are supposed to help make things worse . It’s very scary

I suppose there must be a lot of “delusional” people in this country who “imagine” this sort of stuff

But you’re right.. I never believed their lies. But still Their dirty mud sticks

In this country they make sure we know what label(s) they have given us

It doesn’t matter if the label is wrong. The goal is a “silent patient” so the more invalidation, the better

They don’t order tests for cost reasons.

Why can’t I just flip a switch and say “oh today I’m fine”

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And haha at all those abusers, why didn’t I realise before that all those adults who are in responsible jobs who behave like playground bullies can just be flicked off like a bothersome fly.. that the doctors with their wrong diagnoses and scary “prognoses” matter not at all

You must really love your pdoc. I think he must be a very empathetic and nice doctor.

That's not true with lithium. maybe you don't know about lithium toxicity, that's why you think that these are fancy tests.

Well I must have read many websites before I took my decision. The info on all of them can't be wrong. I didn't check with the brand name only, I took into consideration the chemical composition as well. But sadly my mom lost that prescription and I have forgotten the name of the compound. Or else we could have been sure of the facts.

A medical profession is completely different from other professions. I believe to be a good doctor you have to be a good human being and do no harm. I don't think dishonesty is a virtue that good doctors ought to possess.

They do matter because they did so much harm. And I’m not some “stupid weak” person - I know you aren’t suggesting that I am. My point is, the harm they did to me matters, and the harm they did to others matters. Their ugly words matter. It’s not ok for a doctor to use ugly harmful words

Every time I read a post from someone in the uk, or nearly every time, I read of more examples of this lack of care. This matters

I get the feeling that your pdoc cares in his own way (I could be wrong)

The doctors who violated me altered my life in many ways, for one thing I don’t even have basic medical tests (smear test etc)

He said “forget it”

That matters

But I’m so disgusted by their lack of care .....and now I have scary physical stuff I avoid them

Every time I consult them I feel worse

Why do people give ME this sort of “advice”?

Why did some jerk call ME “attention seeking” - I am NOT

I can, however, spot other people’s negative ... patterns. I had to, to survive abusive PUS
