Please post in this thread if you like the darker days?
I am getting the feeling that I am the only person (or one of the few people), that prefer darker/ colder days, than the days with sun and long hours of light I just want (Need?), someone to join me in this. Surely I can't be the only person |

I do like the colder days. I like the feel of the cold air on my face -- it's exhilarating. As well, the ice crystals on the frost or snow reflect light in a magical way, glittering better than a field of diamonds. This for me is the most wonderful experience of all!
I heard in a mental health webinar that a cold shower can produce a bit of extra dopamine. This link isn't a valid medical, peer-reviewed reference, but at least it suggests that I've not made it up: I Took Cold Showers for 6 Months, and It Delivered 5 Health Benefits – Robb Report I do get more depressed in autumn -- I think it's related to the lower intensity and shorter daylight exposure. The earlier, dark evenings do seem to encourage more creativity in me. But they also make it more difficult for me to be a productive employee. I wish I could hibernate, actually. |

Oh, I wonder how close to the equator you live? I'm at latitude of about 41.7. Today, we had about 9 1/2 hours of daylight.

I like this time of year the best. I like it when the sun goes down early and it's cooler outside. What I do that's nice for this time of year is, while I'm preparing and cooking dinner, I have a candle lit because it's dark outside. It gives me a cozy feeling. Plus it's nice to have the windows closed and not hear noises from the outside. Although the only drawback is being alone for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day (which is my birthday).
I live in an area that's considered in the "sun belt" so winters are rarely bitterly cold. Perhaps if I lived further north, like I used to, I probably would have SAD. But I tend to get SAD when spring and summer comes. I don't like the longer and warmer days. I'm different from most people when it comes to this, I guess. But each and everyone one of us are wired differently. |

I like depression season. It's better than manic season.

![]() I have mixed feelings: I don't like that it gets dark so early, BUT it has some upside to it: People in my building are quieter, I guess because it gets dark fast. And they have their windows closed, so I don't get the noise I get in the spring and summer. And my neighbors have parties and visitors more in the hotter months, except for the holidays. And I like to also burn (scented) candles, as it does feel cozy. If it's cold, people definitely keep their windows and doors closed. I don't want to hear them. I don't like the heat, so when the weather cools I like that. (Gee, Will, are you a male version of me or what? ![]() So I guess, Emily, I like some things about this time of the year (except the holidays), but when I was much younger I didn't like the shorter days at all. Sometimes I want the day to end, and it feels like it ended when it gets dark. It can feel like bedtime, so sometimes the evening drags. It depends. I do feel I get SAD, I'm glad it has an official name and is recognized now. I'm not a night person anyway, so when the sun goes down, I'm done for the day too.

I forgot to say that if we didn't mess with the clocks, I'd be okay with it getting dark about 5:30 pm, which is almost dinnertime. So it's time to settle down for the evening anyway, for me at least. But because of the stupid clock ritual, it's dark about 4:30 here now.
![]() So in a nutshell, I no longer mind the days being shorter or it getting dark faster, just not THAT early. ![]()

Well, since you're in the TARDIS, I wonder, why not just jump from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, and then from 8am to 3am everyday?

No you're not the only one who likes the darker days @emily1890
I like the cosiness, the feeling of wanting to hide away, of not being seen. Plus I hate the heat of the summer and it being too hot to wear anything other than one thin layer of clothing. I much prefer being able to wrap up in layers.... something about not being seen again there I think! Sent from my SM-A526B using Tapatalk

I change my mind. Depression season is nice when it's one of those "sleep 12 hours a day" depressions. None of this "3-4 all nighters a week" depression BS.
Actually...still better than manic season. Just not appreciated.
