Have any of you felt that therapy just didn’t work? That you could try cbt or self help methods but you just don’t see the meaning in them? Like you want to be happy, but at the same time, you don’t because you see no point.
Sometimes living life is so, distant. It’s a concept I can’t grasp (no I don’t mean ending it) I just mean, being able to do everyday things or doing new things. New things to be able to accomplish your dreams. |

Therapy is one of those things that exists as a slow-burner for us. It doesn't always help or feel like it's making a difference, but for the time that you are there you are accomplishing something positive toward healing. Of course, you also need to feel like you have a therapist to whom you feel you can open and from whom you feel you can receive feedback. If that is not happening, ask for a referral to another therapist from your current one or from your insurance provider. Another option is a support group where you can hear from more than just one person, even if they aren't professionals. They would, at least, understand some of what yo are experiencing. Here in the U.S. there are NAMI groups as well as groups that pop up on Meetup.com.

One might suggest that the attitude toward therapy might be coming from the MI, and that you should maybe stick with it?

Therapy wasn't helping me here in the UK. All they kept on about was CBT. That did more damage as I became a human constantly analysing my life.
A couple of years ago, I came accross a book by Pete Walker. Along with a private therpist it has given me the best tools I have to survive and some days thrive. Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving: A GUIDE AND MAP FOR RECOVERING FROM CHILDHOOD TRAUMA: Amazon.co.uk: Pete Walker: 8601200614091: Books Best wishes and hugs to you ![]() ![]() |

Thanks all for your support. I’ll check the book out and I’m going to start a new therapist mid August. Hugs to all.
