most people out there don't understand depression...
they have been told that we lack serotonin...
but some tend to see us as mad or bad or lazy or creepy...
we don't even understand...and most doctors don't get it...

what is causing this awful suffering...desiree maybe you have an answer...
fuzzy what do you think...rohag you have good ideas...someone please help us...
I think it has something to do with a brain that is not healthy...but that is a guess..

Good Morning to you Little T. and A Good Morning to Wonderful Fuzzy. My problem with your 1st paragraph, is that with my chemestry I have bad reactions to serotonin. My system can't handle it, but everyone Doc. wise keeps trying to give it to me. That was one of my big problems for the last 6 weeks. I realise my brain chemestry is messed up, but there may not be a medication fix for me, and I wish my Docs. would realise that. I keep telling them, but they won't listen.

I can't describe it very good, but I feel like my skin is crawling, like I want to jump out of my skin, and I can't keep anything still. Like I am on constant on, move, fast, mode, and very scary, no control of my body at all.

I just looked it up. It helps the brain to make more serotonin. Wouldn't this be bad for me bc I have problems with too much serotonin?

I also can't handle Melatonin, and meds for migraines, like Imitrex. I was on Imitrex for several years until I ended up with arrhythmias. And the melatonin makes me have extremely vivid nightmares. One of my problems is PTSD, and the melatonin makes sleep worse than it already is.

I read on the net that serotonin cannot get into the brain....and tryptophan
competes with other amino acids...but 5-HTP gets in easier...

how do you know that your brain has too much serotonin....

I was told about 5 maybe 6 years ago, that was why I have such a bad time taking serotonin. I get like a overdose of it, even if I just take a small dosage.

I don't know, all I can say is that when I am given it, in any type, that I know of, I have a very bad time, and my body reacts badly to it. I also can't think, remember things, concentrate, and I even have trouble doing little things.

Too true - most doctors don't get it.

Too true - I don't understand it. I don't understand my own depression-anxiety mix. After twenty years my questions multiply without answers.

I seen a new procedure on Facebook, that puts wires to certain parts of the brain, to help depression, MI, and migraines. I am keeping an eye on that. It is a new thing, so Medicare won't pay for it yet. But if it becomes as successful as I think it will, I might try to get it.
