This does not mean a person shouldn't call one but I did once and found it horribly not helpful. I sound too calm and reasonable on the phone and I don't think the lady took me seriously. It's a big problem for me, I'm excellent at seeming the way I'm supposed to seem under most circumstances.

Oy - I second that one. Every week my t tells me I don't look like there's anything wrong with me; I look nice, wear business clothes, make up, hair combed.... I don't mirror what I tell her is happening on the inside. I'm calm, i laugh about the things I tell her.

I have been close to calling a suicide hotline, but was afraid some authorities might come to my house and cause me more problems. But then again, I've never had an attempted suidice, either. If you really are thinking about ending it, please do call. It could make all the difference. I'm just simply too weak - and i know that about myself and that is fine. I've never called the crisis line either - though I was thinking about it tonight.
*fearful*

i have to say i called a local crisis line here once, several years back and i never called it again... i was careful not to say something that would send flashing lights (ooooh!) but the guy did help... just told ne if i felt dangerous to myself or others to turn myself in..

i wasn't intending to do any harm, just needed help, so, he gave me some referrals that i eventually ended up acting on...

i have a police scanner i listen to occasionally... i hear the "staff" as they communicate and evaluate the situation... a person with a background of mental combined with violent behavior stands more chance of being contacted by authorities... that's where i live anyway... we're all crazy here.. kinda accepted but, still an exclusive group in that..

people like you more if you're funny and crazy... not just crazy... (like i was)...

recently ive found my sense of humor returning... what a relief... i still have issues with humor though... has to pass a high degree of harmlessness or i'd rather not laugh...

The suicide hotline is a good number to call when you really need someone to talk to. But if they think you seriously need help, they will send someone out to pick you up and they will load you up in the back of a truck and take you off. I've seen it happen before trust me though, you won't like where they take you after they load you up in the back of the truck... Not telling you not to call them if you need someone to talk to just telling you what may happen if they think talking over the phone isn't working.. Hope i helped ^.^

lol. Kandi, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have laughed but something about that comment just, I don't know, I love irony.

I'm glad you're ok.
