ive worked a few homeless shelters... both giving and receiving... the food arrives, there is always a mad dash ... some are more 'assertive' than others and over time a hierarchy of the food chain is established..

new members often hang back, figuring out the correct order.. some are well experienced and push to the front..

this sometimes causes a reaction...

but rationality soon steps in in almost all cases and the 'correct order' is once again established..

what i'm saying is intended to benefit those who are holding back posting...

push right in there... there's enough to go around for everyone...

Perna is Latin for "pearl" or oyster or something along those lines I think :-) But, appears could be "ham" as in "green eggs and. . ."? http://www.bolchazy.com/prod.php?cat=latin&id=5556

Now I'm totally confused; is pierna in Spanish which is "leg"? Is that anything like a leg of ham?

It's official; according to Notre Dame it's a ham: http://www.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/l...na&ending=

Wait a minute! Reprieve; it's "Latin from Greek which was probably borrowed from Sanskrit"! No wonder I was confused.

It may be pearl, but you're still a ham. Hehe.

Me First

But back to the "me first" thing. I went on a cruise a year ago. I was my usual polite self, waiting for others to go by before I crossed paths to where I was headed. And not one other person returned the favor. I figured out that either it was the international nature of the ship, and politeness in their culture didn't include waiting. Or, they were veterans and knew not to hesitate when you're headed for chow.

from "no where" to "now here"...we've all got to be a "squeaking wheel" before we get greased! Can all behavior be traced back to the fulfillment of our needs? I mean, the idea of pushing our way to the front of a crowd for a bowl of beans and some stale bread seems extreme. but look at what people will do to be loved, our bowl of beans is "attention" it will sustain you but you won't thrive on it...it seems equally curious how people will structure their lives around acquiring attention. some people just need to find a better line to stand in,but before most people will do that they have to understand that there's a "steak & lobster" line somewhere else. hmmm, sometimes a bowl of beans is just a bowl of beans, let it go man!

ok Perna.. finally... i was mistaken (no wondering where it is i have heard Perna before???) ... the card in question above described, is "Venus of Willendorf" ...

described in summary:

Europe (origin) ; Mother of Cups in the North ; ancient carving unearthed in WIllendorf Europe dating approx 25,000 to 30,000 years ago...

"Ancient statues and drawings usually lack faces. This may indicate a lack of individuality, or asense that sacred reality transcends personal qualities."

there is more to the story but this is all i care to involve myself in at this time..

source: THE HAINDL TAROT, Volume II: The Minor Arcana; Rachel Pollack; New Castle Publishing, Inc. [1990]

none of this has anything to do with Perna Me First Me First or anything to do with the title of the thread... ME FIRST was supposed to sink to the bottom as others "push" themselves to the front... but nice chatting with you all (((smiles)))

maybe i should start a Tarot thread??? oh, wouldnt belong in Depression... love all Me First

(perhaps im thinking of "perma" ... more closely relates to Earth...)
